Another girl looking for party advice? Why help me? I've got cookies.... in Party Planning by GreenWhimsy

PsYChE! Sorry, I can't actually give you cookies, as you may have guessed, but I totally would if I could! Anyway, I originally planned on having the Most Awesome Harry Potter Party Ever to celebrate my sevententh birthday, but I've been sick for a while (I'm actually starting Home and Hospital this Monday, which is a home-schooling program since I've missed so much class, lately), and I don't think think I have time . There for, the HP party is postponed 'til the seventh month dies (Harry's birthday :]), when I'll hopefully be feeling back to normal. But yeah, the problem lies in that I still want to have some sort of party, but it can't be too high mantience because I'm still sick and my birthday lands right in the end of finals week (June 8th) Um, I hate all text posts so here's a picture: As you can see in the above, it's a pirates life for me . This is one theme I'm concidering, because the one thing all of my friends have in common is a love of pirates. There have been lots of "HelpMeI'mHavingAPirateParty PleaseHelp!!!!" threads, here, but none of them have really gone very far (yep, I've already looked them up :\) Also, I'm very much in the WB show, Supernatural; Harry Potter, as I said, Japanese Fruits/decora styles; Faeries and toadstools; and The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Oh, and I'm turning seventeen So, yeah, any ideas would be appreciated! Any! I plan on about 10-15 (at the most) of my friends showing up, if that helps Since I won't be able to see my friends, much, now that I can't go to school, this get-togrther really means a lot to me!

All of my best stuff is saved on my school computer, and I'm on spring break . The following I did when I was maybe...fourteen? And I'm almost seventeen, now, so they're about three years old:P ^ A photomanip of me in a picture booth, with lots of crazy blending modes and experimentations. ^ I used to be a huge Elijah Wood fan (I still like him, but I'm not as crazy about him as I once was) and an EW board I used to frequent would have banner contests. This won ! ^ This is one of my "grungier," teen-angsty pieces, I guess. ^ Do Illustrator pieces count? I did this about 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty happy with it . I hope you can see the stars in the background. There's some great work, here! I can't wait to see more of it .

Wotcher, craftsters ? Goldfish_girl hasn't been around for a few days, so I thought I'd post some pictures of what she recieved from me . Sorry if they (the pics) are huge . The Lot: This, right here, is my interpretation of the Half-Blood Prince's potions book, plus a hand-sculpted Hogwarts house pin: The book started out a pretty ugly journal. I re-covered it with paper, painted it a rusty red, gave the page edges a gold leaf-effect, hand-drew the lettering, distressed and spattered it, and used old HP calander pages for inserts. The writing on the very bottom reads "This book is property of the Half-Blood Prince!" Here's the pin, again, plus a sad-looking Harry bookmark (bought) and a Harry and the Potters pin from one of their concerts. And here are close ups of the greeting/note cards I made. The illustrations are all my own, and were printed on to card stock with my brother's computer (mine was out of ink ). Neville and The Unbreakable Vow: The trio and The Kiss: I also sent a sculpted Harry figurine, but he came out kind of botched and I was a little ashamed to take a picture . Goldfish_girl can post one, though if she wants . Well, I hope you all enjoyed looking at everything as much as I enjoyed crafting it!

Painted Constellation Map Stool in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by GreenWhimsy
on: March 12, 2006 11:53:18 AM
My school's annual Celebration party (of what? Us, I guess )is coming up and this year the carpentry kids are making stools and the visual arts kids (that's me ) are painting them to be sold to party attendees. We were just given plain, ready-to-paint stools and creative freedom. Here's what I came up with: I started by painting the whole thing with a glossy latex paint, then spraypainting it with bits of purple, pink, powder blue, and white, to give it some celestial dimension. Then I copied a constellation map onto the seat of the stool with white paint pen and added some interesting space facts I found on the Internet. Basically, I wanted to make something that was not only neat-looking, but kind of practical and a good conversation starter. So what do you guys think ?

Hey, everyone! I just got my package from Goldfish Girl, and it's brilliant! Here are the splendid, fuzzy, dark mark armwarmers GF Girl made me. You see, the left one has the dark mark knit in white (Sorry, it was kind of hard to photograph). GF Girl also made me this awesome Morsmordre bag (It also has a dark mark on the inside of the strap, but I forgot to get a pic )! And lastly, here I am, sleepily modeling the best HP scarf and hat set ever Honestly! It all look really well made. I can barely believe I've finally got a Harry Potter scarf, and in my preferred pattern, too! Thank you so much, Goldfish Girl, for swapping with me, and Sad. for organizing! It's been, in the imortal words of Fred (or George?) Weasley, "...Positively Corking" .

Colorful Unicorn and Heart Storage Cabinet in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by GreenWhimsy
on: February 21, 2006 06:49:15 PM

I just realized that despite being a member of this board for nearly a year, now, this is my first real showing of my crafts (one swap doesn't count, I think ) I've been needing somewhere to store some of my extra art and craft supplies and I saw something special in this old, country-cottage cabinet sitting near my front door: 1 coat of primer, a trip to Home Depot, 2 coats of black paint, a hand-cut stencil, and one search for lost hardwear later, here's what I came up with: Thanks for looking !

slightly cheesy heart dresser to...? in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by GreenWhimsy
on: February 19, 2006 09:03:48 AM
So my mom's letting me take this little storage dresser up to my room to hold my art and crafting supplies and I want to so something cool with it. It has these neat heart cut-outs, as you can see in the picture, and I want to continue with that theme. I have a few ideas, but none are really clicking, so I thought I'd share it with you guys : See? Simple, country, but cute. Any ideas for taking this out of the Little House On the Prairie and making it a little more rock and roll?

Rainbow eye make-up in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by GreenWhimsy
on: February 18, 2006 11:19:35 AM
I just love rainbows (and glitter and rock music and cartoons )! So the other day I was just posessed to stripe my eyes in rainbow colors! Here's the result: I actually didn't use make-up (I could have, but it would have been a pain to get it to stay in place ). It's really just thin-tipped washable markers, plus a little bit of opalecent white shadow, black mascara, and some pink glitter So tell me, do you dig it ?

Darker Side of Harry Potter/GoF-inspired swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by GreenWhimsy
on: November 18, 2005 10:04:16 PM
I know, I know: HP swap part 4 is still in the works, and everything, but I saw The Goblet of Fire last night and I'm still reeling from the wonderfulness of it all. I really like how it showed a darker, almost gothic, sometimes, aspect of the series. Also, Harry starts being sarcastic and argumentative and I love Pissy Harry . So is anyone else interested in exploring the Darker side of HP more completely? I find the recent "Darker Side of Wonderland" swap pretty inspirational.
