1  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Kiln Cast Penguin (& India Inked) on: September 30, 2012 10:03:14 AM
Hi all!

I just thought I'd share a little penguin I made. My friend and I were competing with a theme of something lighthearted (but related) that you would donate to an art auction for global warming (or other such issues). I wanted to enamel on the black, but I'm not experienced enough with it yet. It was really interesting to attempt initial photographs of it.

You can check out more photos of it, and of my friend's polar bear in a life jacket over on our blog;

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Using the texture of food/leaves/natural objects on: September 05, 2012 11:39:32 AM
Hi all!

I'm starting a little project right now to experiment with casting wax / hot glass over and into natural objects to create a texture log for myself.

I was wondering if anyone happened to know of any useful websites or books that would be related to my endeavor? I'm trying to find other artist's experiences and outcomes that I can look to for guidance; searching on Google is proving quite difficult though because it equates "texture" to image backgrounds for use in Photoshop (gack! so frustrating!).

A search for textures via leaf imprints led me to a Craftster page and I thought, "Doy, I should just ask a giant community of artists!"

So while I'm Googling away, can anyone refer some art/craft pieces using natural texture my way?
