1  Re: Hoopla Swap R11: Words With or Without Words - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by GingerKnitter on: July 23, 2014 02:42:13 PM
I received from ..! I am so happy that she picked this! I am from the south (obviously) and I live in the north, so my y'alls are pretty noticeable. So it's great to have this poking a bit of fun.

Loving this vintage looking fabric! It's so country chic.

Thanks so ..! I love it so very much!

Hi everyone! I received from Texscrapper!

It's been really rough here in the northeast and Texscrapper's package was definitely a ray of sunshine.

The initial unveiling!

A beautiful cowl that I personally think looks like fire, and an adorable sunshiney yellow turban. It fits perfectly on my large head Texscrapper. Good idea to choose something stretchy.

A mug rug!

Love this detail!

Wee little owl stitch markers! I've been obsessed with owls recently, and Texscrapper did not know that so I think she might have read my mind.

And to round it all out, a HUGE citrus-themed tote with cute striped handles.

Thank you so much Texscrapper! The package you sent me was AH-MAZING! I am so jealous of your sewing skills.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Hi there everyone! I am so very excited to show off the beautiful circular needle organizer that Craftsunderground sent me! I am absolutely in love with this! Craftsunderground had tremendous attention to detail.

It hangs on a hanger and has lots of pockets for me to organize my needles.

Each pocket looks like it has hand-stitched numbers (wow)

There is an extra pocket that will come in handy for the needles of my Knitpicks interchangeable needles.

There was an extra see-through pocket with an adorable fabric flower detail.

Craftsunderground, you go girl! This is amazing! Thank you so so so much.

P.S. Sorry about the pictures. I don't know why the pictures are all turned around the wrong way.

4  Fiber Friday - August 23rd, 2013 in Spinning: Completed Projects by GingerKnitter on: August 23, 2013 04:47:27 PM
Yay fiber friday! I'm very excited to post today because I had this skein on the bobbin for like a month, but that's okay because I was busy with a new job. This is 100% camel down. I was a bit worried with spinning this because though I had spun this fiber before, it was in a thicker more airy (?) weight and is so soft. I wanted to go for something much thinner, but I worried because as I spun this it just felt like it turned into twine. So rough feeling! Edit: It softened considerably after soaking, so this was very misleading fiber to work with.

I plied this as a two-ply and I swear Belladune jinxed me! I had mentioned in a previous fiber friday that I like the yarn to kink back on itself in a certain way, so that I knew it would be pretty balanced when I took it off the niddy noddy. Belladune said something to the effect of "some yarns need to be overspun when you ply." Of course, I did not follow the advice of a veteran spinner and the first half of my was so underplied it just looked like two singles sitting side by side. So I had to run the yarn through my a wheel a second time to ply the first half better.

Next up on my wheel Abstract Fiber from AbstractFiber.com. It is a 50/50 blend of merino and silk in the colorway Copper. I'm spinning it up thinner than laceweight. It's amazing how the silk just allows you to go so thin.

What are y'all spinning?

So sorry to hear about your situation Dessadoll! Those are really hard times Sad When I have moments like that of my own, I always have to remember that though the drama is hard to deal with and increases with more family, my life would probably be a whole lot worse if I didn't have those people I love in my life. I wish you all the best! Deep breaths, it shall pass Smiley

I received from Penelopewaits!

I have been in such a nesting mode because I'm coming to the end of my college career after a wild six years at school and living with my parents, so I'm starting think about how I want to decorate my place and Pinterest is so perfect for that. I got really excited because Penelopewaits claimed me for a quilted potholder! It is waaaay too cute! It's so vintage-y feeling that I am in love. My mom collects antique quilts and this reminds me of them.

Love the tiny bees!! And the hand-quilted detailing is so lovely!

I had to hide my package because my mom threatened to steal it from me. I'm all like heck no!

Penelopewaits also sent these milk-flavoring straws! I haven't tried them yet, but I did some research and these look really cool! Seems like a fun way to get people to drink milk. I've never seen these before, I'm not sure if the US has them really, but it's still very fun since they were from Australia originally.

Thanks Penelopewaits!! This is so very awesome! I am excited to have your wonderful work in my home Smiley

So, I'm gonna apologize for the camera quality. My expensive camera was doing nothing for the color of the shirt. Angry

But I am so very excited because Skaborsk claimed me for a sheep embroidery which I've wanted fooooooorever! She also went above and beyond and made a ombre top! It's also funny because the color she used is the same color of my favorite top, so I am very happy!

Here's a detail shot of the embroidery. It's so well done!!

The knitter/spinner in me is all swoony. lol

Thanks so much Skaborsk! I adore it all!

Btw, I like your handwriting. I feel like it should be computer font!

7  Sleepy Rabbit in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by GingerKnitter on: August 02, 2013 05:01:36 PM
So I apologize for the picture quality, it was taken with my phone.

I made this little gal for a partner in a Pinterest swap. I was inspired by a pin and I really liked the whimsy of the person's ami rabbit. This was my first amigurumi project, so I utilized this http://makezine.com/craft/craft_pattern_spring_bunny/ pattern and tweaked it how I saw fit to get the shape I wanted.

The ears are able to be posed. I inserted wire into the borders of the ears, but I'd like another way of doing this.

Hope you enjoy!

So I asked Dessadoll if it was alright to post a picture of the amigurumi rabbit I had made her and she said yes. I'm very excited because this is the first ami project I have done and it was a joy to craft for Dessadoll and I hope she loves it as well! Along with the rabbit I sent some wool since she has an interest in needle felting!

The ears can be posed as well.

That looks so cushy and warm! Do you have any ideas what you are going to do with it?

Here is my batch both spun on my wheel.

The fiber for this yarn was from Chameleon Colorworks in the colorway October. I don't know the content because, of course, I stashed it on Ravelry but didn't put notes from the label. UGH. It's about 120 yards and navajo plied. I wish I knew the content because this yarn has a lot of drape from whatever is in there along with the wool content.

Also, I am currently spinning some camel down. I was trying to get laceweight, but I think after it has been plied and soaked it will turn out to be a fingering. Which is okay because I'd like to make a cowl.

10  Echo Flowers Shawl in Knitting: Completed Projects by GingerKnitter on: July 17, 2013 10:37:29 AM
I took my second true leap into lace and I am not disappointed. Well, maybe except for the yarn, but you can read my rant on my blog.

I knit the Echo Flowers Shawl. If you are still experimenting with lace, I find it's a moderate difficulty pattern, but more because of the nupps than anything.  Stitches tend to slip underneath your nupps and you may purl extra stitches together than you should.

This makes me happy happy happy.

By the way, can you tell what show I was addicted to while I was knitting this? Big huge virtual high-five to you if we are in the same fan club!
