2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Any Hope for my stockinette scarf to un-curl? on: January 14, 2012 06:59:45 PM
I don't know what I was thinking really...knitting my daughter a scarf using stockinette stitch and for some reason I thought two knit stitches along the edges would keep it from curling but it's not. It's about a foot and a half long already...I could start over but don't really want to. I don't remember where but read that you can use blocking to help flatten it? I'm using Debbie Stoller Sheep(ish) that's 30% wool.

Any tips on blocking if it might work?  Never done it before.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Re: best glue to use?? on: January 08, 2012 11:03:13 AM
In general I use Scrapbook Adhesives tape runner (the little red one). I want to get an ATG but worried about the size and where I would keep it.

I can't use liquid glue or glue sticks because I get the crap everywhere.

I also use glue dots for dimension, Xyron X for ribbon, and this sheet of tiny glue dots for anything too thin and small to get adhesive on any other way
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Recommendation for new machine? on: August 18, 2009 10:58:40 PM
Thank you. That's actually what she ended up getting!  Just picked it up today.  Can't wait to try it out  Smiley
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Quilting software for Embroidery Machine? on: August 12, 2009 07:13:54 PM
I was with my mom when she was looking for a new sewing machine a few days ago. As she was talking to the lady I wandered around the store and was looking at the embroidery software since my mom might get a machine, I was seeing if there was anything I was interested in (since I actually prefer embroidering by hand).

Then I saw a CD that does quilting squares.  Just wondering if this could be a solution to having my quilt (that I haven't even started yet) quilted.  Instead of sending it off, or using a shop's longarm machine.

I don't know ANYthing about machine embroidery or quilting...but my assumption on seeing this CD...will it quilt small blocks of my project?   I'm guessing, you put your quilt w/ batting and backing into the hoop and let the machine embroider these designs onto it...which would "quilt" it?

Here's an example of one I could find online.

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How much to get my quilt "quilted" by someone? on: August 12, 2009 06:58:45 PM
I love the idea of using the long-arm machine at a local shop.  It would be much easier for me to do that than by hand or on my regular sewing machine. I'll definitely look into that.  Thanks!

I would much rather pay to use the machine than have it done anyway! Then I can say I did all of it myself Smiley

I think my daughter HAS to have this. Smiley

Very cute. I love the different fabrics for her dress, and the hat is absolutely adorable.
