Details of swap:

The idea is to make one (just one, no more, no less) tiny craft item.  It should be physically small (miniatures are encouraged) and should be something that you can craft with a high level of skill.  Even if it is a fairly simple/easy item for you to make, please embellish or perfect it so that it best represents your skill.  (For example, if you wish to make a coin purse, I encourage you to embroider, add beading, or take other steps to make it a really special piece.)

You will receive only one partner.  You may only send that partner ONE tiny craft - "extras" are not allowed in this swap.  (Partly because it can be embarrassing to receive more than you sent, and partly because this will force you to put all of your creative energy into make one really stellar, tiny craft.)  The idea behind this swap is to give you a simple, low-pressure craft swap that won't stress you out or cost a lot to ship.

How do you know if your idea is "tiny?"  Examples:  A coin purse is tiny; a clutch purse is not.  A pair of earrings is tiny; a necklace, earrings, and bracelet set is not.  A trinket box is tiny; a pencil box is not.  An ATC (artist trading card) is tiny; a full-size drawing is not.  A pair of small barrettes is tiny; one large barrette is tiny; a selection of barrettes is not.  (If you're not sure if your idea qualifies as "tiny," ask me!) All items should be 4"x4" or smaller.

As well as the regular rules I have some additional ones:

1. If this is your first swap please read: (http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

2. You must post on this thread. A simple I'm in! or whatever will suffice. This is so I'm certain you get all messages.

3. Please put Tiny Swap in the title of all PM's ( I get lots so and sometimes it gets confusing.)

4. Please make an item that you would like to receive. Do some research on your partner.

5. Everyone should be willing to ship internationally. Its only a few bucks more, these are tiny things.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Note- I've decided to match people up based on the craft skills / technique they'd want their tiny item made of.. that way people can be matched with others who really appreciate what they can make so the questionnaire will be a tiny bit different from before. Example- if you really would love something knitted- you will be matched up that way- that way whatever your partner makes you, you know you'll love it cause you can't knit and love the technique/

13  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Require being on craftster after sign ups posted on: April 23, 2006 12:12:22 PM
Hey!
I'm organizing a swap right now and one partner contacted me that her partner hasn't been online since before partners were posted. I e-mailed her and PMed her and said that if she wasn't on craftster for a week after sign ups I would drop her from the swap. I was thinking though that it might be a good idea to make this a set rule- in the swap guidelines or something- that way people who might be going on a trip- leaving town.. would know to let the organizer know first which would clear it up.
I just wouldn't want there to be any confusion and to drop someone who actually wasn't going to flake- which did happen once before to a partner of mine. If it's set out clearly in the beginning then the expectations might be more clear.
Ok.. just two cents about something...
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / japanese knitting book on: March 30, 2006 05:51:06 PM
Has anyone tried to use one of those Japanese knitting books that are available online? They seem to have lots of pictures and diagrams, but are all in Japanese- I was wondering if it was possible to follow them without being able to read the words.
Thanks!
15  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Forest Friends! (Sign ups 3/28/06-4/11/06) Send by 5/09/06 CLOSED on: March 28, 2006 07:17:00 PM
This is a swap dedicated to friends of the forest! This can include trees, owls, foxes, bunnies, bears, skunks, hedgehogs etc.. as well as the little guys you may never see wood sprites, gnomes etc.. You can state what type of animals you'd like in your preferences.

I'm going to state a number of rules here. I'm not mean or strict, but I want to make sure I state my expectations up front.
YOU MUST PM me and your partner when you send. YOU MUST get a DC# unless you are shipping internationally- no exceptions. And YOU MUST PM me and your partner when you receive. Also you should post your receipt of the package in the gallery and thank your partner publicly- even if you can't take a pic.
These things are stated here in the rules of swapping (so you know I'm not just being silly and making them up  ) http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6553.0
If you don't think you can take the time to communicate with PM's with me and your partner and afford the extra 55cents for a DC#- then in my opinion you won't be able to commit to the requirements of this swap, so don't join.
Trust me I'm not mean.. it's just so hard to organize a swap when people don't communicate.
Also there is a very long crafting time for this swap so I expect people to send on time. If you are over a week late past the deadline and have NOT communicated well you will have late in your feedback. Past two weeks, you will have late in your feedback no matter what (but good communication will be noted). If you are past two weeks late with no communication you will automatically get negative feedback till you communicate and send.
I also suggest PMing your partner either a week before the deadline or before you send (if you're sending early) and to hold off sending till you hear back from them. Sometimes even great swappers and communicaters just dissappear and since this is a long crafting time we should make sure we keep track of that.

OK... now on with the fun!

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Am I the only person who likes this?? on: March 20, 2006 03:20:45 PM
So I mentioned I wanted to knit this purse at a stitch and bitch group
http://www.yarnatwebsters.com/images/2006-02/nicky-ep/ne-swanderful-500.jpg
and it was met with horror.
I was directed to youknitwhat a pretty meanspirited blog if you ask me, where they point out it's horrible. Personally I say take the risk to design your own new and original patterns not just use your time to criticize other people's attempts... but that's just me.
Anyway.. back to my point- am I totally crazy for loving the creativity and kitch of this? (without the extra feathers of course)
17  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Animal mail love- bird month angel needed- FOUND!!! on: March 13, 2006 03:27:15 PM
I feel weird doing this, but organizing this swap has been such a nightmare and so difficult. This is the fourth negative I've given in an eight person swap and I'm so mad that I ended up being flaked on when it's such an easy swap to fulfill and I send such great stuff to my partner for three month...
If anyone thinks it's uncool asking for an angel for myself let me know and I'll consider taking this down

# of Flakers: 1 outstanding
Hey guys we need an angel for the animal mail love swap. The idea was that your partner sent you two to three small things a month- one can be store bought- with a different animal theme each month. I need one for the bird month. If you just have one thing, but would like to send it- let me know and I can use two angels.

I love all birdies. Robins (my middle name), all song birds, owls, crows, ocean and marsh birds / waterfowl. I do feel wild birds so practical stuff would work, as well as ANYTHING else. I have a bird / nature theme in my room with big windows.
18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Forest friends swap on: February 21, 2006 12:52:17 PM
Hey all!
So my new obsession is with forest friends! The usual suspects, owls, tree habitats but also foxes and bunnies and bears and squirrels. I think it's time for another forest friends swap!
It will have to be in a little bit, cause I'm in the middle of the tree swap right now- but I'd really love to do this one.

# of Flakers: 1 (for two months- one angel already found)

Hey guys we need an angel for the animal mail love swap. The idea was that your partner sent you two to three small things a month- one can be store bought- with a different animal theme each month. I need one for the pet month. If you just have one thing, but would like to send it- let me know and I can use two angels.

Nushybum needs an angel for pet month
Info: "What are your favorite animals in each month?:
FOREST FRIENDS: owls are great.
PETS: I love cats
BIRDIES: I don't know...Exotic birds are really amazing...
Are there any animals you hate, or would you be willing to get anything each month?: I HATE SLUGS!!! And rodents.
Are there any of the suggested items you'd especially love?: no
Are there any of the suggested items you just don't want- ie 'If I get one more magnet my fridge will fall down': I don't use bookmarks...I have loads, just don't use them...Oh, and the magnet thing is true too.
What kind of crafts do you like to make?: I used to make jewelery and knit like wildfire, but now have tendonitis, so my crafting is limited to arty things. (I'm an art student.)
What kind of crafts would you especially like to get?: anything!
Do you have a pet? : Yes, two cats, but they don't live with me, so don't worry about them.
Is there a category of animal that you really really love that I haven't included? (These can be substituted for the pet month): I love sea creatures: whales, dolphins, crabs, turtles etc. But cats are great, I AM a cat. LOL."
