1181  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: ART DOLLS 3 - GALLERY on: April 17, 2014 05:49:51 PM
Thank you all! I was searching for a female bird goddess image and found only ones with wings and a serpent head or were just not very nice. Then I realized that in my very own garden there must be a Scare Crow Goddess. After the third head she started to come together. The previously and unused doll body was perfect (it had a lumpy bump of a head...rather creepy).

The most fun I had was dirtying and ripping and patching her clothes. It's always weird to make something and then purposefully artfully ruin it.

The staff and cape has little paper and stick feathers. I do get carried away with detail sometimes. I'm glad the cat liked it too!

Sounds like we need a Nekid Doll Swap next. All those "Mature Content" tags!

Partners! Hello artsycandice! We match in interests, color and themes pretty well so this will be a blast. I've also lived in the Pacific Northwest so I get to revisit all my favorite things about the area! I do miss those mountains. What they call mountains in the Northeast is pretty funny.

And it seems if some other folks need a bit more time so I will move the send-out day to Thursday April 24.

No panicking allowed - we're a mellow group here.

Could you talk to my boss? Maybe you can move some more of my deadlines?

Wink But I got my doll finished, pried it out of my arms (I want her! I'm going to have to make one for me), packaged it up and mailed it Tuesday. Yea! I'm lovin' the gallery too.

Wow, go away for a few days and amazing things pop up here.

The frog is so cute, I love his sleepy eyed look and the colors. And the bulb doll. I saw a bulb right off, then read the posts and saw corn. But the flowers led me to bulb right off the bat. I love it! So fun and spring like.

Just checked in....not the second stage of waiting begins......for everyone to check in and then partners. I did get started on the item, pulled it off the shelf, dusted it off and started the finishing pieces. I had this unfinished item and just needed the kick to get it finished. This is perfect. Busy crafting weekend!

OK, I really have to decide what to make or finish. So many ideas. You never realize how useful a partners likes and wishes and color choices and don't likes are until you are creating for an anonymous recipient. I guess you just have to make it for yourself! And then tear it out of your little hands and send it off to a new home. Back to the idea space in my head.
1188  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap Discussion Thread for 2014! on: April 14, 2014 01:57:20 PM
So much going on in the ATC swaps! And here I sit with not even one claim this month. I've been so busy with life and other swaps and personal art. But I love the fact that the ATC swap is sitting there, producing amazing cards and I can join in any time. Things are freeing up, so I will jump in soon. I'm enjoying all the cards.

It took me years...many, many, many, many years. But I have most my craft supplies in one room and mostly organized. I've learned to PUT THINGS AWAY after each project is done. The problem is, I'm usually working on several stages of multiple projects at one time. How can one person pull out so many different items in an hour or two. Mystifies me!

Take a look at my craft room...it is a joy to have. It only took about 40 years of my adult life to finally give it to myself.

Whew, I finished today. We had our photo shoot out in the garden next to some lovely crocus and she posed like a pro. I will be sending Tuesday, as work has me running all over the state tomorrow. This has been an incredibly challenging swap. Of course, I made it challenging. Pushing myself to new heights.

Teaser photo:

I also finished a private swap I am behind on, and two of three quilt squares that are due soon. Now on to the next thing. Can't stop crafting!
