1  UNITED STATES / Wisconsin / Re: Wisconsin Thrift stores.... on: July 12, 2005 09:49:23 PM
all right, this is going to seem waaay out in the boonies for all you city folk (lol) but if anyone's in the wisconsin dells area:

there are two st vincents.  one is right off the strip and it is never good.  the other is across the street from zinke's a couple blocks from the strip.  this one's worth a try.

in reedsburg, 15 miles away, there are two.  there's a st vincents right on main st that's pretty good and a thrift store run by the hospital called riverview thrift store.  this is on alexander ave, i think?

in baraboo, 10 or so miles away, is my FAVORITE thrift store, st vincent de paul.  god i cannot remember street names for the life of me right now, but it is right down the street from the pool and the skate park, down the street from the square.  there is also a nice yarn shop right on the square.

in sauk city, 30 minutes from madison, there is a nice st vincents off highway P.  they're usually a little pricey, but they've got great furniture, fabrics, and craft supplies.

good luck~

3  UNITED STATES / Iowa / Re: New here... Any one in Iowa? on: July 12, 2005 09:34:20 PM
Well I'm not from Iowa, I'm from Wisconsin, near the Wisconsin Dells... but I go to school at Coe in Cedar Rapids... so I guess I'm technically an Iowa resident for 9 months of the year.  CR has a great yarn and bead shop... there's an okay yarn shop in Marion.  Otherwise there's like a Hancocks, JoAnns, Michaels... otherwise I don't know!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / decorating dinner plates? on: July 02, 2005 09:25:20 PM
hey everybody!

all right, when i was in kindergarten or so, i remember decorating dinner plates.  the plates were plastic, and i think it was sort of a heat transfer deal.

now i have a friend going away to college, and i think this would be the perfect gift.  problem is, i have no idea as to how to do it... does anyone here have any ideas?  has anyone done this before?  any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Can Anyone Make an Intarsia Chart for Me???? on: May 09, 2005 10:33:55 PM
Hello all.  I am trying to make the poster boy tote from SNBN for my friend Amelia, who happens to LOVE Audrey Hepburn.  SO I'd like to put Audrey on it instead of the Poster Boy... except I dont' know how to make the chart.  Now, I don't need someone to tell me how to do it... I've scoured all my knitting groups, gone through the internet, found many ways that I could do it using KnitPro, Excell, Photoshop.... but KnitPro didn't produce the results I wanted and I don't have the other two programs.

So I was wondering.... could someone possibly make a chart for me?  I want to use this pic
I just need the design in black because the tote is going to be pink and black.... just like the poster boy one except with pink.  If someone could do this for me, I would be indebted to you forever and ever!

Ugh, I have been wracking my brains trying to make this work... thanks in advance for your help!

p.s. sorry if i posted this on the wrong board...
