1  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Wanting to angel on: July 26, 2012 01:33:39 PM
I saw another post like this from not too far back so I hope that this is okay, but if not feel free to remove it. I'm just posting to say that I'm interested in being an angel. I've been stalking the board since I joined but so far no luck,  so if anyone has a flaker feel free to PM me Smiley
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Striped Tam...now in grown up sizes on: July 26, 2012 01:08:13 AM
So the slouchy hat that I posted the other night? The one that wound up being baby sized because I was half asleep when I finished it and I doubled the decreases? Well this is what it was supposed to look like if I hadn't messed it up the first time around

It's being modeled by my brother who is (in typical teenage fashion) super annoyed by my oh-so-taxing request that he wear it in the photos. This is it from the back!

The angle is a little off because the punk is finally taller than me, but I'm kind of happy with how it looks when I do it right Smiley
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Alice in Wonderland, two ways on: July 26, 2012 12:55:50 AM
This is my latest piece. It's worked on the corner of what is going to eventually become a much larger piece, but for now I was happy with it so I decided to post pics! It's a mixture of needlepoint (mostly straight stitch and chain stitch) and watercolor which was inspired by the mix of the two used in the cute narwal embroidery featured this month. This is a shot of the whole thing

And a couple of close ups of my favorite parts, namely her legs and the caterpillar

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Altered Dresser on: July 23, 2012 01:31:18 PM
Finished Product:

So I've downsized my living space recently and have been looking for a way to condense my stuff into a smaller area. I found this scratched-up, crappy little dresser covered in stickers at a thrift store for $7.

I pulled off the back panels (to show off my pretty blue walls) and removed the door (which I'm saving for another project). After a good scrub down, paint job and change of hardware this is what it looks like.

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to paint a design on the side later on (I'm leaning towards no because the colors are already pretty vibrant) but for now I'm happy with how it turned out Smiley
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Grey and Blue Child's Tam on: July 18, 2012 08:03:11 AM
So this was my first attempt at a tam that went disastrously wrong, but then turned out kind of cute anyway. The pattern I used said to dc decrease in the next two stitches, so I did two decreases each time, meaning at the end the circumference was about half of what it's supposed to be. I was pretty happy with my gauge though, so now it's just a child's size tam for a lucky little cousin whose birthday is coming up.

Unfortunately said child isn't here to model it so you get to see it on my hand :-p

And of the back See how it's all circular and not wibbly wobbly like my previous rounds have sometimes been? Smiley

I also took some close ups of the stitching around the bands

And of the single crochet band at the end of the project
