1  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: stuff for a new kitty... on: October 24, 2005 10:34:53 PM
Definitely get some Feliway, perhaps the diffuser. It really helps chill kitties out when they are dealing with changes & stressors. Toys would be good, catnippy ones... Giving her a snuggly bed and a cat post with a view are great things too... enjoy your new girl!

Oh. My. God. I LOVE THESE!!!  Must instantly go buy all the supplies, learn the technique, and become obsessed with this project...

Ok, here goes:

1. A long Harry-Potteresque scarf (silver and dark green? silver and dark blue?)

2. A book purse

3. vintage pin-up or c. 1900 French or Italian poster art playing cards

4. A tiger/zebra/leopard print purse

5. Original art for my office at the animal hospital

6. Lace/Aran/Fingering/Bulky weight yarn (enough for a long scarf) Cool variegated/novelty yarns definitely a plus!

7.Funky metal hair accessories. The ones I love best are the ones I've bought from street vendors in Berkeley, just random small gauge metal wire shapes with separate spike to hold your hair in.

My fave colors are jewel tones & black. I have a rubber ducky fetish...  I'm in the US, 27, and a pre-vet student. Cool beans...

Ok, for my last pick I'm taking on Snacker's homemade jewelry. (Turn about is fair play, right? She just barely picked me!)  Wink

My list coming soon...

2. A book purse

3. vintage pin-up or c. 1900 French or Italian poster art playing cards

4. A messenger bag (cord? canvas? embellished with a rubber ducky?)

5. Other random long scarves, stripey or otherwise (not orange or purple, or red/black - I'm covered there. What can I say? I'm a scarf junky.)

6. More Knitting Supplies - funky yarn (enough for a scarf, maybe? Did I mention the whole scarf junky thing?) circular needles of any lengths or sizes, stitch holders, row counters, whatever.

7. A knitting needle organizer (I have TONNES of straight needles).

8. Funky metal hair accessories. The ones I love best are the ones I've bought from street vendors in Berkeley, just random small gauge metal wire shapes with separate spike to hold your hair in.

My fave colors are red and green (and their dark variants). I have a rubber ducky fetish...  I'm in the US, 27, and a pre-vet student. Ya'll rock!

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Tell me about your Christmas Trees! on: October 19, 2005 12:23:09 PM
My birthday is the day after Christmas, so I like to do up the whole season. I always have the biggest real tree that will fit in my apartment, decorated with white lights and a huge variety of carved wooden animals and mini disco balls (my party animal tree). Around the apartment I hang light garlands, stockings, window kissing balls, table top decorations with pine cones... Last year I made new matching wreaths in green and gold and red that I LOVE... I love decorating for Christmas!

Don't forget to dangle snowflakes from the ceiling. You can do big ones, but also littler ones with multiple flakes hanging at different lengths along your string. I really like fishing line for this, since it's practically invisible. In addition, at craft stores you can get window paint (specifically designed to be easily washed of glass) and paint the insides of your windows with faux snow drifts gathered along the bottom/sides.

Since you have mini trees, you could also wrap little boxes to put under the little trees.

Have fun!
