1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / best sealant for scrapbook paper glued to wooden table on: August 31, 2012 10:37:17 AM
I recently completed a project where I took a book of scrapbook paper and mod-podged it, underneath and on top, but I want to seal it with something that will make it waterproof and potentially even smooth over textures created where the edges of the papers are. (this is instead of purchasing a piece of plexiglass cut to size, which was my original idea but way more expensive than I can afford.)

any ideas? Smiley
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / best stitches for sewing by hand? on: July 20, 2012 03:53:19 PM
I'm pretty new to sewing and I've made a couple of pillows and sewn sheets together to make a larger sheet, etc, but I'm still not sure what's the best stitch for hand sewing. (I just bought a sewing machine but can't afford to buy the manual quite yet, so stuck with hand sewing still!) The project I'm about to start is a lined infinity scarf. (Exactly like this: http://sweet-verbena.blogspot.com/2011/10/single-loop-lace-infinity-scarf.html) I also need to know what's the best stitch for pillows and clothes (I plan on making simple skirts and dresses). Any tips on this?
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / what type of paint should I use on lightbulbs? on: July 14, 2012 03:08:01 PM
I went to an art show in DC a few weekends ago and one exhibit had lamps whose light bulbs were painted with rainbow dots which gave a really cool feel to the whole room... I want to do this for my room in my apartment but I'm not sure what kind of paint is the safest to use. any insight for this?

hello everyone! not really sure how to introduce myself... I'm traci! pretty much just another college kid who is entirely too addicted to tutorials and crafting. =P looking very forward to feeding the addiction. also, I guess I should ask here, am I allowed to upload a non-obtrusive animated avatar?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / need some DIY ideas for a string of lights! on: July 12, 2012 12:29:54 PM
hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has some ideas or links for what I can do with a string of blue christmas lights! moving into a new place in a few weeks and I've been spending all of my time crafting and working on interior decorating projects, and I really want a cute, original string of lights over my bed in place of a lamp. anyone have any good ideas?
