1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / DIY wedding 7-11-09 on: September 12, 2009 01:44:58 PM
I got married on 7-11.  We did it pretty cheap and cool (I think).  The wedding was on a ferry boat, the theme was a pic-nic.  We had a pig roast.  The table clothes were the cheap red checkered kind, and we used yellow plates, forks, knives etc.  My MIL did the flowers, some wild, some purchased from the flower market.  I wrapped the plastic wear up and tied it with red hemp twine, and put them in a flower pot on each table.
The flowers at the "alter" were on old lobster buoys (we live in Maine).
My mom made my dress, the whole dress, pattern included was less than $25!!!!!!
the pattern: DKNY V2900
My husband made the invitations, they were amazing!  I will include in another post.
Thanks for looking!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / cupcakes and creepy cute toppers on: August 07, 2009 04:18:44 AM
My mom crocheted the bride and groom, they are from a book called "Creepy Cute" I think.  A friend made the cupcakes, this isn't the best photo of them, but they are sunflowers.
The wedding was on a boat.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / lopi sweater blocking mistake on: November 28, 2008 12:20:01 PM
my mom knit me a traditional icelandic sweater with lopi, it was a bit ill-fitting, and obviously not blocked, so I blocked it...
Long story short, I made it even worse, and now the shoulders are big enough for a line backer.  Any suggestions?  Can I shrink it a little without felting it?
BTW its a cardigan with a zipper sewn into it...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Glampyre's new bulky cable sweater on: October 28, 2005 07:24:13 PM
I just saw Glampyre's bulky cable sweater yesterday and I had to have it!  Would anyone like to knit along?  I bought some Bulky Lopi today and just cast on a bit ago.  So far so good!

(ps I found it in the weblog section, its not one of the free ones)
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my own 1 skein Noro hat! on: September 23, 2005 06:35:50 PM

Here she is!  I think I actually like this.  If I make another one though, I'll make a smaller "flower."
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / 6 babies to knit for! on: September 04, 2005 03:52:07 PM
OK, maybe this is a sign that I am getting older, but 6 people I know are having babies this year!  I cannot afford to purchase that many gifts, nor do I want to spend my precious time knitting for that many babies.
So my question is what baby patterns give you the most bang for your buck (and most importantly time)?

Oh and most of them are not finding out the sex.  As a knitter that bugs me, but I know this is not about ME.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first Aran project, baby sweater on: August 27, 2005 05:29:39 PM
I found the premier issue of Knit It magazine at my mom's house.  (It's a few years old)  Any way I loved "Julia's Aran Pullover" by Kristin Nicholas.  It was fun and pretty easy.  I loved the directions (written out no charts).  I used Lamb's pride in creme.  I actually finished this project a while ago, and just found the pictures on my computer.
Thanks for looking!

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / fav knee socks pattern and what to wear? on: August 23, 2005 12:00:33 PM
I have decided to knit up a bunch of knee socks for winter this year.  I am 5'9'' and dress pants are ALWAYS too short for me.  I am tired of wearing high waters to work so I am thinking this year I will wear skirts and leg warmers or knee socks during the winter.

So I am wondering...What is your favorite knee sock pattern?
Also what type of shoes look best with knee socks?

I used to wear them with Birks when I was in college in the 90s but I don't think I want that look now.  Also I would wear Chucks, but I don't think that is really appropriate for work.  (I am a teacher)
Thanks for your help y'all!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Does your knitting bother your significant other? on: July 31, 2005 08:57:19 PM
I am curious if others have the same problem as me.  Yes I know I am obsessed with knitting, but I don't understand why it bothers my husband.  Yes I read about it on my free time and yes I would rather knit than spend time with him.  Does that make me a bad person?
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / wave skirt from spring 05 IK on: July 21, 2005 02:33:18 PM
This is my firt post, so I hope all goes well!  I used Reynolds worsted weight "Saucy" and knit the size small.  I left out the edging (because I just wanted to be finished!) and crocheted around the bottom to keep it straight.
When I finished it was way to tight and short, but a little blocking went a long way.
Thanks for looking.
