5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / DIY wedding 7-11-09 on: September 12, 2009 01:44:58 PM
I got married on 7-11.  We did it pretty cheap and cool (I think).  The wedding was on a ferry boat, the theme was a pic-nic.  We had a pig roast.  The table clothes were the cheap red checkered kind, and we used yellow plates, forks, knives etc.  My MIL did the flowers, some wild, some purchased from the flower market.  I wrapped the plastic wear up and tied it with red hemp twine, and put them in a flower pot on each table.
The flowers at the "alter" were on old lobster buoys (we live in Maine).
My mom made my dress, the whole dress, pattern included was less than $25!!!!!!
the pattern: DKNY V2900
My husband made the invitations, they were amazing!  I will include in another post.
Thanks for looking!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Good Book for beginner?? on: August 30, 2009 08:51:30 AM
I taught myself using a Melanie Falick book, "Kids Knitting" (I think).  Also I found the Knitting for Dummies to be helpful.  Once you have the basics down, I highly suggest "knitting Without Tears" or anything else by Elizabeth Zimmerman.
Good luck!

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / cupcakes and creepy cute toppers on: August 07, 2009 04:18:44 AM
My mom crocheted the bride and groom, they are from a book called "Creepy Cute" I think.  A friend made the cupcakes, this isn't the best photo of them, but they are sunflowers.
The wedding was on a boat.
