1  Re: tube top recons! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Mivzi on: April 15, 2010 07:51:10 PM
new recon!
made from a fancy spandex-y dress shirt that had an ugly collar
with all this
embroidery ugliness on it
and one of those shirts they give you when you donate blood

i wish my sewing machine wasn't busted
this took UNBEARABLE AMOUNTS OF FOREVER

but it's kinda cute like tunic-y kimono shirt thing so whatever :3

2  tube top recons! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Mivzi on: April 14, 2010 12:52:20 PM
I have two new recons, inspired by my new strapless bra.
I have really big boobs, so finding a strapless bra that fits and actually works is something to celebrate about!
What better way than with tube tops  Grin

All these are hand sewn, so.. that's my excuse for them looking kinda funky.

This one was a large men's tee that said "My balls itch" or something. It was retarded so i cut it off and used the rest of the shirt to make a boob tube

(very serious expression, for a very serious picture)

This one was a GIGANTIC shirt. Like, I've never seen a shirt so huge. Like, the entire tube top is just the front side, and bottom half of the shirt.

I don't really know what the print is on it, but it's pretty awesome so whaaatever. :3

3  a series of t-shirt recons in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Mivzi on: February 17, 2010 08:28:09 PM
I have a terrible addiction, I can't even lie.
I could pay someone's salary at Camel.... but that's a story for another time.
This is my goodwill addiction. They have giant t-shirts.... for a buck fifty.... they're basically begging to be cut up and colored on and tied up and destroyed by the evil likes of bored craftsters >:333

I have at least a dozen giant men's goodwill shirts laying around my apartment. This is my current "to-do list":

(i'm especially excited to do something with the poker playing popeye one. look at him! he's so hood!)

I'm slowly but surely working my way through the pile. Pretty much whenever I get too lazy to wash clothes I make something.

This was a standard white men's tee. I saw some dude with the most kickass shirt, it was just a big skull but for some reason I didn't ask him where he got it from... so I had to rip it off, of course. some walmart spraypaint, cardboard, scissors, and like 30 minutes later....

What crappy stencil job, but I don't mind it. It looks intentional since I frayed all the edges and did some blowouts on random parts of the shirt.  Grin like a boss!

I have a couple other recons I've done in the past few days, but I haven't taken pictures yet. I'll do all that tomorrow and post some more. It'll be like... the evolution of mivzi's t-shirt reconning skills! hell yeah!

4  Re: Help me make this wrap and snap sweatshirt!! Patterns, advice? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Mivzi on: November 07, 2009 07:02:49 PM
It looks like it just has snaps on the top corner of either "flap", so that when it's wrapped around the top corners meet at the middle and have snappies on them.

But while you're folding the bottom flap over, you would have to be careful to keep the top one over it so it doesn't roll up under it. I just tried it with a scarf and it seemed to work, but I'm not sure.

5  goodwill shirt recon in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Mivzi on: July 12, 2009 03:41:02 PM
I picked up a few shirts from goodwill the other day as an attempt to inspire myself to actually do something with my time
and.. it worked!

This shirt started out as a little kid shirt with a pretty badass tattoo girl on the front. I was gonna cut a skeleton-esque back into it but then I realized it has some gigantic advert on the back for some random tattoo parlor in georgia. Bummer! But, I can work around it.
I cut the collar out into a girlier boatneck tee, but that made the sleeves practically fall off, so I added a corsety back to it. When I get some ribbon I'll use that instead of the ghetto makeshift ribbon i made out of a cut up piece of black fabric.

Escuse the bad pictures please! I've been laying around the house all day I don't feel like getting made up for pictures hahah

I think out of all the recons I've ever made, this is the only one I'd wear in public. With an undershirt, of course. Grin
Any comments/advice is much appreciated! I'm relatively new to reconning so any help is appreciated.

6  newbie to recons here [with a pic OOO:] in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Mivzi on: January 21, 2009 02:16:53 PM
I have a bunch of old graphic shirts that have really cute designs on them, but I don't wear anymore cause they have pitstains... i just moved from an area that's really hot and humid and sweaty and gross, so it's not a big deal to the people down there... but up here I get weird looks  Embarrassed understandably so! if it wasn't the norm down there I would have been giving people faces too.

They're still good, though! I'm sure if I knew how to do something with it I could fix em up.

I've seen some awesome recons that i'd like to try, but they all seem a bit out of my league... I'm pretty bad when it comes to sewing, i'm more of a draw and paint kind of "artist"...

I figured I'd ask crafters instead of just walking into a situation where i'd be destroying some of my clothes,
what are some nice "beginner" recons?

here's a pic of what sort of thing i'm talkin about xDD

if this is in the wrong forum i'm sorry!! x__x forgive me

7  what else should we put? [lil wayne chucks!] in Shoes: Discussion and Questions by Mivzi on: July 12, 2008 10:13:30 AM
a friend of mine customizes chucks for a nominal fee of like... fourty bucks.
but since i'm moving she said she'd do me a pair for free. Cheesy i told her i wanted the
LIL WAYNE edition of chucks.

this is what's made so far... but we don't know what to put on the rest of the shoe!
i wanted to put quotes, but she said that they would wrap around to the other side and look funky cause the shoes are so thin, and i said i'd rather not have them than they look weird or go at an angle [i like things horizontal Grin]

we're at a loss...
any ideas?
