2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Retro Smallie on: August 11, 2006 03:23:24 PM
Bag Title: Retro Smallie  (image heavy)

I bought this material on ebay, it's vintage, and I got a ton of it.  I hadn't made a messanger bag before, but decided I'd try.  I think it came out kinda cute... super small (it barely holds my stuff).

The material is super thick, and I couldn't find any really good coordinating material, so I just made it all the same.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Lined with zipper, belated Mother's Day Purse/Tote w/ matching Checkbook cover on: June 05, 2006 02:39:06 PM
So, with my hubby outta town for a few days, and my Mom visiting, I finally got "around" to making her Mother's Day present.  She picked out the fabrics at JoAnn's, and I did all the rest.  She picked out some really pretty fabric, and it sewed up nicer than I had thought it would.  The purse is 15x5.  I lined the purse with a coordinating blue, gave her some inside pockets for her cellphone and keys, and a couple small pockets for pens, and put a zipper in between the lining and the outside shell.  I had tried the tut on doing the gussetted zipper, but mine didn't turn out so great, and this was easier for me.  The checkbook cover was the tricky part.  She has the weird kind of checkbook that has a small section at the top of the actual checks to write down the "whos and how muches" instead of a separate check history registry.

This is the purse with my Mom modeling:

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Anyone for a Hanna-Barbera Cartoons/ Favorite Character Swap? on: May 03, 2006 02:05:52 PM
Hanna-Barbera Cartoons span from the 1950's through the 1990's.  I'm sure we all have our fav shows and or characters.   LOTS of different kinds of crafts can be made with this topic.

Here is a really cool website that list all the shows http://www.wingnuttoons.com/Hanna_Barbera.html
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Gave my couch a face-lift! Now on correct board! on: April 13, 2006 10:49:05 AM
So after my cat had been clawing on my couch for a couple of years, I decided it was time to reupholster.  Using a flat head screw driver, and a pair of plyers, I slowly took all the original staples out, saved all the old material (which gave me a perfect pattern), used my seam ripper and took apart the pillows and saved the pillow zippers, and viola, I have a new couch.  All my husband said was "boy, that's a pink couch".  I tried the argument that it was "coral", but he's right, it is pink.  It was fun to do, only took about 2 weeks worth of my daughter's naps (she's 13 months).  I should have taken a "before picture", but I wasn't thinking!
