1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My New Drawers!!! with mini tutorial:) on: March 24, 2011 01:14:39 PM
Old unlined drawers + free time + TONS of fabric left over from other projects = my new favorite piece of furniture:)

Materials:
  • Cardboard from cereal boxes
  • Hot glue
  • Fabric of choice!

I decided a nice leafy print would look good inside my wooden drawers:) The pieces of cereal box cardboard are cut to the size of the inner edges of my drawer that I was lining.

Then I laid out my fabric and cardboard in the shape I would glue them down and trimmed excess fabric. The space in the middle is the size of the bottom of the drawer (I used a piece of paper cut to that size for reference and then removed that paper once my cardboard was aligned).

A little more trimming around the corners, hot gluing the fabric down, and it should look like this.

Then I just flipped it over and slipped it into the drawer! A little glue around the top edges and viola!

My new fave drawers!!!!

Little notes:
- leave a little extra room with the cardboard for thick material
- trim corners so no fabric is bunched up

Super easy, super fun:) Hope you enjoy em!

i made this bag for my friend lauren's birthday. i learned how hard it is to work with sequined fabric but it could not stay the drag-queen-like dress that it once was. (i have nothing against feminen guys but this dress was better as fabric).
