1  Teesha Moore Wiggles Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kayceejoy on: August 19, 2012 07:12:48 PM
I'm new to Craftster (hi there! ^_^). This is the first project I'm sharing.

My daughter Olivia turned 3 in June, and we bought tickets to a Wiggles show in Portland, OR. I wanted to make her a special present, and I had just gotten a Teesha Moore Harry Potter purse from my sister in law jillybeans (yeah, I am pretty much the luckiest girl in the world), so it gave me an idea to make Olivia the same style bag with a Wiggles theme. Each character got a patch including each of the 4 Wiggles and their four friends, Captain Feathersword, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog and Dorothy the Dinosaur. The remaining patches were related to Wiggles songs.

I can't believe I really did it, although it wasn't without lots of help from Jill who did all the machine-sewing, and stitched all the patches together. But since I'm the only one with an extensive Wiggly background, I planned all the patches, and I did most of the felt work and embroidery (but I had help with some of that too). Enough rambling, here it is!

Here's the front:

There's Greg (who Livi got to meet at the concert) and Murray. Under Greg is a "W" for Wags the Dog. Above Murray is the "Fruit Salad" panel - if you've heard the song, you know what "Yummy Yummy" is all about. I may be proudest of the Big Red Car in the center. It probably took the most time since there are so many little details. Below the car is Henry the Octopus.

And the back:

Upper left is Anthony and a Hot Potato underneath. I'm pretty proud of the Feathersword. It has some clear beads that are in a quilted sort of pattern. I had some gems hot glued on but they fell off. Sad Under the Feathersword is the "Rock-a-bye Your Bear" patch. I love his little beaded nose. Then there's Jeff (Livi's favorite) and a patch for Dorothy the Dinosaur who loves roses. She's green with yellow spots so I made the colors of her patch to match.

Some closer up:

The straps were made with carpet binding tape. My sister in law Jill (jillybeans) sponged on paint in Wiggles colors, and sewed them on.
