1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / digital painting Saoirse the Sea Witch on: May 08, 2013 12:13:49 AM
My inspiration for this piece was Ursula from The Little Mermaid.  Saoirse could be her vengeful younger sister.
This was done entirely on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using Sketchbook Mobile.  I would estimate that this took at least 7 or 8 hours to sketch and paint all the layers.  I can assuredly say no more digital painting practice for me; I've gotten the hang of the app and am now painting seriously.
This is my new favorite piece.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Sorceress (digital painting) on: April 23, 2013 10:52:39 PM
I am very pleased with how this turned out.  Made completely on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using Sketchbook Mobile.
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Fire Demon (more digital painting practice) on: April 21, 2013 11:36:27 PM
More digital painting practice using Sketchbook Mobile on my tablet phone.
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Lavender Lady (digital painting) on: April 20, 2013 12:27:15 AM
I recently bought a digital painting app for my Galaxy Note 2.  I just keep playing around with it and this is what I came up with in about an hour.  I really like the airbrush pens, especially for the hair and skin coloring.  I am new to digital painting so all this practice really helps.
I'm still trying to get the hang of all the layers and merging them and whatnot.  Can't quite figure out how to go back to a previous layer and fiddle with that particular bit.
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Spiked and studded black leather wedding bracelet on: March 18, 2013 01:13:55 AM
My soon to be sister-in-law asked me to make her a black leather bracelet for her wedding.  She said she wanted a bracelet 3 inches wide that had spikes on it.  Those were her specifics; the rest was up to me.  I found some lovely leather scraps from Tandy Leather Factory, a buttery soft black leather and a nice patent strip, that I used to make the main body of the bracelet.  I used a black suede trim to make the underside.  I already had the spikes and pyramid studs so all I needed was an eyelet kit.  I originally planned to use lobster clasps for the closures but didn't like them with the finished piece so I made two hook clasps.
The finished piece is a surprise for her.  I didn't share any works in progress pics so I really hope she likes it.  I should know any day now.

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Little Succubus on: December 30, 2012 10:31:26 PM
Just something I quickly came up with right before Christmas.  I tried to make something sweet, innocent and angelic looking for Christmas.  But this is what came about.  At least she looks sweet and innocent.  Made with Copic markers on paper.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Duct tape purse (first time making one) on: December 15, 2012 12:04:43 AM
So I finally tried my hand at making a duct tape purse.  I used cherry red and turquoise duct tape.  It took a lot longer to make than I anticipated; about 3 hours.  The purse measurements are 9 inches length by 6 1/2 inches tall by 4 inches width.  I will make a larger purse next time.  This one is a bit on the small side for me.

I made a 40 inch long strap and an interior cell phone pocket and a strap to attach keys.  I used a magnetic snap for the closure and glued a plastic star button on the front of the snap for decoration.

I really like how it turned out.  I must say I am hooked.  I want to make more duct tape accessories.

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Bianca the bee on: December 10, 2012 11:06:48 PM

I was playing around with eye shapes again and came up with Bianca.  This eye shape kept making me think of something not human or human like (like a fairy, etc).  She is made with oil based paint markers and gel pens on vellum surface paper.

I really like how the bee hive turned out.  That is my favorite part of this whole painting.
9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Princess Peach fanart on: December 10, 2012 11:03:31 PM

I finally finished my Princess Peach fanart that I had mostly done a few weeks ago.  All I had left was to mix up some acrylic paint for her skin.  So I finally bit the bullet and did that.

She is mostly made with oil based paint markers on 9 by 12 canvas paper.

Please excuse my husband's fingers in the picture.  I get the best light for photos outdoors and it was windy that day so he held the picture in place.
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / You're making Jack very angry (Jack Skellington fan art) on: November 13, 2012 04:08:24 AM
I was playing around drawing eyes differently than I normally do and came up with my Jack Skellington fan art.  I love, love, love, love, love anything Nightmare Before Christmas or anything Tim Burton really.
