I received my first letter "B" ATC from kwality570 yesterday. It is so cute! I love the shading on the bear! And the strings for the balloons are real string!  Cheesy

I hope to collect some more letter B cards, and then frame them and put them in my 6yo daughter's room (her name starts with B). You should have seen her face when I pointed out to her that this card was hand drawn. LOL

Kwality included a notecard with this awesome image which I will probably have to use in some future collage or ATC. The harlequin is too cute to pass up!

Thank you, kwality570! I love my ATC!!

I claim ThreadOrYarn for a card using the "magazine strips technique"  Cheesy

claims: 2

I'm a 36yo gal living north of Seattle, WA with my daughter, husband, and cat. Politics and religion are okay as long as there's no proselytizing. Also, please no profanity or gore as my 6yo daughter likes to look at my ATC collection.

My themes:
New Hampshire
the letter "B" (for my 6yo daughter)
pandas
marine biology
trees
Spanish text
embroidery/crewel
Mt. Rainier
mythical creatures (pegasus, dragon, sphinx, etc)
vintage magazine or book cutting as main element (40s-70s)
birds
*stained glass
*vintage Sesame Street
*the moon

Thank you!!

ETA a few more themes - I feel silly that it is so hard to come up with a long list! I know what I want until someone asks...

Oooh, I like that night skyline! Very cool!

And I had no idea that zip codes came about as recently as 1963! Great card - cute, collectible, AND educational.  Wink

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: FOC Second Chance Wishlist Round 2 Gallery! on: March 08, 2011 11:53:16 AM
Aw, thanks, ladies! I really liked that stamp, too. Grin I was hoping that it would still be recognizable as the Willendorf Venus even though it was so tiny!

Wowza! It has been a lot of fun watching this gallery. So many great items!  Cheesy

Well, Phizzychick received her package from me a month ago, but we have both been having internet issues since then.  Sad I'm the first one back up so I said I would post the pics I took before sending it off. I claimed her for fabric (warm colors), paper & ephemera, anything Discworld related, and rubber stamps. Here we go!

I packed the smaller items in a wooden cigar box:

All the items were wrapped in a tea towel and I put in a balsam fir sachet from NH (where I like to go in the summer but don't get to very often) just for fun.

Inside the little black bag were four Discworld glass marble magnets. It is hard to get a good picture of those little guys! There is A'Tuin, Nanny Ogg, Granny's sign, and Death.

I hand-carved four stamps for phizzy. She wanted some swirly kind of shapes and seems to like the more organic things, so I went with some hand drawn stuff. She said she really liked them, thank goodness! (i tested this one w/ black ink and then got so mad at myself for making it look ugly. so silly  Roll Eyes)

I did this one for fun b/c I saw a Willendorf figure in her wist. It's teeny!

I sent along various bits and pieces of paper and ephemera, as well as bits of metal and yarn, etc. Here is a pic of the top of the pile:

I didn't take a picture of the fabric that I sent along. There were maybe 10 or 12 pieces of nice (I think Wink) reds, purples, oranges, etc. I packed them all around the cigar box.

There was one last item that I made. However, apparently my partner took it from the dryer and put it away in the linen closet where I finally found it this weekend. I had completely forgotten about it and thought I had packed in the box along with everything else! It was listed on the customs form and everything. I am going to wait to post the pics so that phizzychick can be surprised when it arrives at her door (in case she gets online somewhere and checks in before then).

OK, that was a long post with a lot of pics. Sorry! I just want to say that I am so grateful to the mods for offering this swap. I have been trying to angel for a long time in order to make up my negative feedback and it never works out. Thank you!! I had a lot of fun and am very glad to back in the black, as it were.  Grin

Yay!  Thanks for angeling, Tee!   Cheesy  It's good to see that your card to crafty_dame arrived there safely.  Crafty, I'm so sad that none of my cards got to you, but I still had fun making them.  They were for Moulin Rouge, and I got to use sparkly bits!   Grin

A big thank you to Teeisme for organizing this super fun swap!!
9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Dishsoap Bottles & Plastic Knives on: April 30, 2007 09:09:27 PM
From a gardening mag I just read... use plastic knives as plant markers. just write the name on the handle.  the serrated edge makes them easy to poke into the ground, and they last for a few years.  good for if you garden, and if you already have knives.  I wouldn't want to purchase them just for that and add more non-biodegradable stuff to the world  Tongue

in high school, we used to go "forking" where you are all stealthy and stick a bunch of plastic forks in someone's lawn during the night. It's a fun kind of vandalism that doesn't damage anything and is free if you have access to a fast food joint with flatware.
my point is, you could do this with the plastic knives. "knifing." It sounds much worse than it actually would be.

Ah!  This happened to my neighbor's yard last year (she has two teens), and my hubby and I were very confused.  Are they trying to aerate their lawn?? Now I know!  Thank you!  Grin
