1  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap--March 2011--Gallery in The Swap Gallery by maps on: March 15, 2011 11:28:17 PM
I received my first letter "B" ATC from kwality570 yesterday. It is so cute! I love the shading on the bear! And the strings for the balloons are real string!  Cheesy

I hope to collect some more letter B cards, and then frame them and put them in my 6yo daughter's room (her name starts with B). You should have seen her face when I pointed out to her that this card was hand drawn. LOL

Kwality included a notecard with this awesome image which I will probably have to use in some future collage or ATC. The harlequin is too cute to pass up!

Thank you, kwality570! I love my ATC!!

Wowza! It has been a lot of fun watching this gallery. So many great items!  Cheesy

Well, Phizzychick received her package from me a month ago, but we have both been having internet issues since then.  Sad I'm the first one back up so I said I would post the pics I took before sending it off. I claimed her for fabric (warm colors), paper & ephemera, anything Discworld related, and rubber stamps. Here we go!

I packed the smaller items in a wooden cigar box:

All the items were wrapped in a tea towel and I put in a balsam fir sachet from NH (where I like to go in the summer but don't get to very often) just for fun.

Inside the little black bag were four Discworld glass marble magnets. It is hard to get a good picture of those little guys! There is A'Tuin, Nanny Ogg, Granny's sign, and Death.

I hand-carved four stamps for phizzy. She wanted some swirly kind of shapes and seems to like the more organic things, so I went with some hand drawn stuff. She said she really liked them, thank goodness! (i tested this one w/ black ink and then got so mad at myself for making it look ugly. so silly  Roll Eyes)

I did this one for fun b/c I saw a Willendorf figure in her wist. It's teeny!

I sent along various bits and pieces of paper and ephemera, as well as bits of metal and yarn, etc. Here is a pic of the top of the pile:

I didn't take a picture of the fabric that I sent along. There were maybe 10 or 12 pieces of nice (I think Wink) reds, purples, oranges, etc. I packed them all around the cigar box.

There was one last item that I made. However, apparently my partner took it from the dryer and put it away in the linen closet where I finally found it this weekend. I had completely forgotten about it and thought I had packed in the box along with everything else! It was listed on the customs form and everything. I am going to wait to post the pics so that phizzychick can be surprised when it arrives at her door (in case she gets online somewhere and checks in before then).

OK, that was a long post with a lot of pics. Sorry! I just want to say that I am so grateful to the mods for offering this swap. I have been trying to angel for a long time in order to make up my negative feedback and it never works out. Thank you!! I had a lot of fun and am very glad to back in the black, as it were.  Grin

Yay!!!  I just got word that rakechan received my card today!  (crafty_dame, you are soooo much closer to me, but you still haven't received???  mail service is so odd sometimes!)

I am so excited that she safely received my 2nd card, that I am going to post a scan of it!   Grin  She's super busy moving, so it's the least I can do.   Wink

I made her a card for "Life is Beautiful"

and the back side

I had to have something on there to represent the darker part of the movie.  The tank folds up to reveal all my info.  The quote is "I won the game" from the end of the movie when the boy sees the American tanks coming in the camp, and thinks he won the prize from the game that his dad made up for him.

... now I'll just cross my fingers that crafty_dame's card arrives soon!!

Thanks for the nice words, Sewknitter!  Cheesy

I found a scan of the first card I sent to pinkygirl.  I thought I'd share it so it isn't a complete loss.  Smiley

It was called "Hummingbird", and the GGD sentence was "Hummingbird sipping freesian desserts".  (for some reason the pic isn't very good quality. *shrug)
I used a paper I made with dyed shaving cream, and a hand-carved grass stamp.  I still like the other one better.  The funny thing is, though, that the card that pinkygirl sent me had a hummingbird on it also!   Cheesy

OK!  Here is the second card that I sent to Pinkygirl:

It's called "Ella's Jazz", and the whole GGD sentence is "Ella croons; jazzy moonlit kisses"

I actually like this one better than the first one I sent her (which got lost).  And Pinkygirl says she really likes it, too.  Smiley

I want to post a pic of that one, too.  I think the picture is on my camera..

Ooooh, that is a gorgeous card!  Very nice!

Here is another beautiful card - the "Bagdad Cafe" atc I received from Rakechan!  I LOVE it!!

Isn't the ink drawing cool?  The colors are all tissue paper/handmade paper and look so great in person!!  Thank you, thank you Rakechan!!  As I promised to anyone who made an ATC of my favorite movie, I will now love you forever!   Wink  Cheesy Cheesy

I heard from MyrnaLoy that she received my card.  I chose to make an ATC for "Spinal Tap", and it seems that I coincidentally chose one of her favorite quotes from the movie!  Here's the rockin' card   Roll Eyes

The quote is "There's a fine line between stupid and clever".  I really like this movie, too, and there is just so much material that it was hard to choose something to go with.  I'm glad you like the card MyrnaLoy!   Cheesy

Thanks for all the nice comments, ladies!  And I am so glad you like the card, Tee!  Cheesy

Here is a close up scan for all you "Sixteen Candles" fans...  or for anyone who used to secretly drool over Anthony Michael Hall.   Wink

This swap has been so much fun!

OK, I meant to do this last night, but here, finally, is the great ATC that Tee sent me...

She chose The Color Purple off of my list.  This card is wonderful!  It captures the scene so well.  And the girls are actually coming up out of the grass.  I LOVE IT!  Cheesy

Thank you Teeisme!!
