1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Overnight/Weekender bag, making-it-up-as-we-go-a-long on: December 14, 2006 11:12:12 AM
I've been searching for a good tut for an overnight or weekender style bag and I haven't really found anything but, with these lovely bags as inspiration:

and the Amy Butler weekender bag

and the help of these tuts:

...I'm going to try to make it up as I go. I have a pretty decent knowledge of sewing but I haven't completed very many projects so I'd say I'm maybe an advanced beginner. Does anyone else want to join me in trying to do this?
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Burning Man-esque events on: June 23, 2005 12:59:59 PM
There's a thread on here somewhere about Burning Man and the high ticket costs, the lack of veteran interest, etc. I have always wanted to go to something like that, but I can't afford it and it sounds like its changed a lot. I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything going on this summer that is somewhat similar in nature, but not so expensive. I want a summer adventure, but I just can't find anything.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Taking apart a book on: June 18, 2005 04:21:05 PM
I have a book of Georgia O'Keefe paintings that I want to take apart so that I can put all the pages on my wall. Does anyone have tips on how to do it without ripping the pages (or at least getting them out with minimal ripping)? Thanks!
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Art as a way to heal on: June 11, 2005 10:43:45 AM
I don't do visual art much anymore, I mostly am an actress, but after a recent breakup I find myself drawn back to art that can express things that are personal right at that moment (with acting you are usually expressing yourself only through your interpretation of someone else's--the playwrite's-- work). Drawing is really helping me get out some of my feelings. I was wondering what experiences others have had with art as a way to heal after something emotionally distressing.
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Ideas needed: Detroit Rock City on: May 26, 2005 01:34:37 PM
I'm a stencil newbie and I want to make a Detroit Rock City bag for school. I want to use the quote "I'm here for the girl and the car" and I want some kind of picture, but not necessarily an actual still from the movie because I'm impatient and new to the stencilling. So something simple. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery on underwear on: May 08, 2005 07:46:51 PM
For some reason, I find myself really wanting to embroider a pair of underwear, or maybe a pair of sleep shorts. I was thinking it would be cute to use one of the Sublime pinups. I'm just not sure how well something like that would hold up and if it would be difficult given the stretchiness of underwear material. Has anyone tried this?
