Found a stitch-your-own cover for iPhone 4 and this is what I did with it.

Cap and Iron Man come from here: (http://dorkstitch.blogspot.se/2012/05/cross-stitch-pattern-fun-with-avengers.html). I altered the patterns slightly for size and color, most notably I removed a row of stitches from Cap's shield and changed Iron Man's eyes.

The case is made of silicone (or something like it) and quite easy to stitch through, but it does put a lot of strain on the thread. So after I made Cap's outline (black on black, such a joy) I started using much shorter strands of floss to prevent fraying.

Now, I'm cursing the fact that none of my friends have an iPhone. Seriously, hand-stitched iPhone cases would make a perfect Christmas gift. *grumble*

First post. *waves*

A fairly simple tote bag with the ever-lovely Iron Man. I got the idea this morning and since I had a day off thought became done.

I free-hand drew the face using various movie poster and I think that if I do another one I'll probably make the face slightly "shorter" (I think he looks a bit horse-faced) and trim the excess black around the eyes.

To make assembly easier I glued the parts together before sewing with a regular glue stick (somewhat risky considering it's made entirely out of IKEA's cheapest fabric but there was no stains, even after ironing) and then zig-zagged around the edges with as 'tight' a stitch as my ancient sewing machine could manage (I love it but it's about 50 years old).

The tote is a basic reversible one that I made a pattern for yesterday (with this I mean that I taped papers together into a square of acceptable size) and the "decorative stitching" around the top was made in yellow. The handles are stitched with red on one side and yellow on the other.

All in all it was incredibly easy but somewhat time-consuming to sew. I think I'll do Captain America's shield next, but I really need to find something to make big circles with (free-handing would end in disaster).
