RU rah rah!  I recognized that big red R right away, great job.  I met my fiance at Rutgers, so this might be a cool thing to make for him someday...

I'm actually new to both knit and crochet, so I'm not really sure about your questions.  I do know that its pretty easy to crochet a border around something that's knit.  If you have original SnB, there's a cardigan where she uses crochet around the border.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

That looks fantastic!  I just knit this scarf as well (my first project) and it was ROUGH.  But you did such a great job on it, it looks wonderful.
