1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / What to do with a new camera, face paint and two boys...? img obese on: June 21, 2014 08:08:19 PM
Paint them up like zombies and go for a walk in the woods! And that is exactly what we did. A few weeks ago we had a school carnival where Eli discovered face painting. He was a clown and fell in love. Then we went to a local crafts store and he found a pack of face paints and I bribed him to be good in the store and I would buy them. He was good. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day in Oregon (a somewhat rare occurrence) and I didn't have to work. Eli has been begging me to do zombie paint for a few days and so I bribed him again (I don't really consider what I do , bribery, I like to think of it more as compromising. I get what I want and he gets what he wants, little does he know that even if he didn't let me take his picture I would have painted them and tried my hardest to sneak pix in!). This time I told him that if I painted him like a zombie he would let me take pictures of him (he hates having his picture taken, but loves taking pictures, weird kid, go figure) with my camera I got for my birthday and haven't really used. He agreed and I started painting. His little brother, Asher, wants to do whatever he is doing so he also became a zombie.
After lots of paint and repeated, "mom, more blood, zombies have lots of blood." The boyos were happy with their living dead appearance. I grabbed the camera and we were out the door. This is what we ended up with.

They were very happy with their adventure. Eli kept asking me to take his picture and Asher kept telling me that if bears come he would protect me by eating the bear's brains. Awe....such a sweety! There is a park at one end of the trail and the boyos were a hit with all the other kids. They promised that next time they come, they would bring the paints and I would do them all up like zombies.
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Crazy Bat on: May 27, 2013 09:11:47 AM
I made this hoop for the monthly hoopla-along. A tiny bit of foul language.
I have a sick obsession with bats and my favorite saying just happens to be bat-shit-crazy. I work in a pharmacy, so I get to use this saying on a daily basis and my co-workers crack up every time. So this is what I came up with. It was a quick stitchup and the first piece I have finished in a long time (I have about 7 half finished projects going on right now).

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / rogue-ary on: April 05, 2013 11:04:46 PM
I thought I'd try my had at making a rosary since I think they are so beautiful, but I wanted something with a little twist.
Here it is.

What do you think?
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / reservoir dogs ear on: October 06, 2012 02:00:54 PM
I was kicking back, enjoying the radio when stealers wheels came on with stuck in the middle with you. It is hard to listen to that song and not think of the ear scene from reservoir dogs. Quentin Tarantino has an amazing talent for picking songs for his movies. Anyway, while listening to that song today I was struck with inspiration to create this.

Keep in mind, it has been nearly 10 years since I've tried to draw anything other than smiley faces and stick figures for the kids. All-in-all I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Zombie garden owl on: June 08, 2012 12:57:23 PM
A while ago I was at a flea market looking at an old console record player that I hope to one day refurbish. I decided I must have it, and luckily for me the guy selling it just wanted it gone so I was able to get it for a great price as long as I took a huge hideous golden owl too. I wish I would have taken before pictures so you all could enjoy the owl, but I didn't think of that until later.
With a little paint the owl went from looking like the one in Clash of the Titans (the old one) to this

The back of his head

We have named him Henry and one I get something to seal him with, he will protect our garden.
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My son's design on: June 08, 2012 10:42:26 AM
My middlest son (he's 4) drew a picture of what his son will look like when he has one. I had some scrap fabric laying around so when he went to bed I decided to whip up a stuffie for him.  Here is what I ended up with and he loves him.

He has named him Monster Son

I have been a long-time lurker, but this is my first ever project post! I made this mobil-type thing for my older boys room. The large star is made with 12x12 inch scrapbook cardstock (pain in the but to get a sharp fold!), the middle ones are made from 6x6 inch origami paper and the small ones are made from 2x2 inch. I think it needs streamers or something, but my boys like it as it is.

8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hi everyone! on: June 07, 2012 08:54:37 AM
I have been a long time lurker here on craftster, but my life has settled down quite a bit in the last year so I will have more time to craft  Grin. I enjoy all things crafty, but have a bad habit of not finishing my projects. Hopefully being able to share some of my creations with all of you amazing crafters I will be more apt to finish what I start. You guys are all so amazing and inspirational I hope that I can make things half as nice as the things I see on here!
