1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / gauge question... please help! on: January 05, 2006 03:53:49 PM
I'm about to start knitting my first sweater (!!!), and I just made my gauge swatch.  The pattern says that 10 stitches and 13 rows is 4 inches on size 13 needles.  My swatch is 11 stitches and 14 rows.  So... I don't know what to do now.  The pattern is for a bulky (obviously) car coat, not a fitted sweater, so maybe the fitting won't be as important?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
2  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / my first plied yarn on: November 07, 2005 03:04:44 PM
Hello all!  This is my first attempt at plied yarn.  I took a spinning class a little while back, and this is what I was able to come up with.  I'm not in love with it, and there isn't very much of it, but I made it!  Smiley  We used raw wool straight off the sheep.  Unfortunately, that process kind of turned me off to spinning for a little while... I'm glad to have had the experience of doing it all myself, but I think I'll stick to prepared (but not necessarily dyed) rovings from now on!

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / superstar/superhero pendant on: November 03, 2005 01:02:57 PM
Some days I call it my superstar pendant, some days I call it my superhero pendant.   It all depends on my mood!  Cheesy  But anyway, it's 20 gauge sterling silver, pierced and dapped into a dome, with a hidden bail.  It's pretty big, about 2.5 inches in diameter.  I hope you guys like it!

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First post! And first cables! Fat Hat from Hip to Knit on: October 30, 2005 10:22:22 AM
Hello everyone!

I've been wanting to make this hat for over a year, and I finally decided it was time.  So here it is!  I'm pretty happy with the way it came out... I want to make another one, but I'm thinking I'll knit it round instead of flat so I don't have to seam it.  I also would like to reverse the direction of one of the cables, so they'd mirror each other instead of twisting the same direction.
