That looks exactly like the necklace Jordis Unga wore on Rock Star INXS.

Really?  Hmmm.    That's kind of annoying.  I don't know who that is or when that show aired, but I made this pendant a couple of years ago, but I didn't have a digital camera until very recently.  I do realize that it's not the most original design in the world though.  Ah well.  I still love my pendant!   Smiley

Some days I call it my superstar pendant, some days I call it my superhero pendant.   It all depends on my mood!  Cheesy  But anyway, it's 20 gauge sterling silver, pierced and dapped into a dome, with a hidden bail.  It's pretty big, about 2.5 inches in diameter.  I hope you guys like it!

54  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: First post! And first cables! Fat Hat from Hip to Knit on: November 02, 2005 12:42:39 PM
Thank you!  I actually had a really hard time finding yarn that was chunky enough for the pattern, so I used 2 strands of Lamb's Pride Bulky held together.  I'm knitting another one right now for a friend that's using 2 different colors together, and I really like how it's turning out as well.  I'll post pictures when I'm done with it.

About the book... it was one of the very first knitting books I bought a couple of years ago, and I bought it specifically for this hat.  There are a couple of other patterns in it that are interesting... but I don't think they're especially clever or interesting or novel.  I'd recommend looking through it at the bookstore or library before deciding to buy it.

I'm interested!  I knit, sew, make jewelry (wirework and metalsmithing), and do a little spinning (although my spinning skills are a bit rusty).  I'd be happy to teach you whatever I could though!  I'd love to advance my knitting skills and try a sweater or something a little more complex than a hat or a bag.

I love that bat!  It's adorable.  Great design, great execution.  =o)

I wish I was clever enough to make up this pattern!  But alas, I'm not.  The pattern is from Hip to Knit.  http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1931499217/qid=1130696978/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-2125446-5226231?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

I'm glad you liked it!   Cheesy

Hello everyone!

I've been wanting to make this hat for over a year, and I finally decided it was time.  So here it is!  I'm pretty happy with the way it came out... I want to make another one, but I'm thinking I'll knit it round instead of flat so I don't have to seam it.  I also would like to reverse the direction of one of the cables, so they'd mirror each other instead of twisting the same direction.
