1  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Wristbands on: July 12, 2010 05:22:28 PM
During the NHL season, I made a variation on the wristband pattern in honor of my beloved Boston Bruins...

Here it is, before it was sewn up:

And here I am modeling it:

I wore it to the playoffs and the boys won one game, but lost the other. In good news, it kept me unbelievably warm. I was surprised, but by covering the wrist with yarn, it really helped with body temperature! I'm probably going to make another for my other wrist before next season. Cheesy
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Best books/sites? on: July 03, 2010 01:46:41 PM
Hi everyone!

I have always had an interest in beading, but have never tried it. I lost my job last month and decided that I should try beading now as a way to keep my mind active (and not on all the rejection letters I've received from my job applications!). I went to AC Moore and picked up some beading stuff during the sale last week.

I'm curious... What books do you find to be the best for a beginner? Any web sites? I did buy The Beader's Bible and I have been googling beading, but would love to hear what books/sites experienced beaders use.

Thanks so much!! Smiley
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Yoga mat bag - edited w/pattern link on: April 04, 2010 04:59:01 PM
I recently started taking yoga classes as a way to get some exercise and (hopefully) tone down my tension headaches. So far, it's been working beautifully! I decided I needed a yoga mat, and of course, once I got that... My yoga mat needed a cozy home. I found the pattern on Ravelry.com -

The yarn matches my mat perfectly!  Wink

4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Needle-felted Easter eggs on: April 04, 2010 04:41:42 PM
This is my first attempt at needle-felting... and my first attempt at posting a photo at Craftster! Smiley

I discovered needle-felting in the latest issue of Crafts n Things and really wanted to try it. I used pink wool roving (Clover brand), teal wool from a needle-felting kit & Bernat Felting yarn to make these eggs. I used a styrofoam egg as the base of each.

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Thinking about learning to sew... on: February 20, 2010 12:47:46 PM
I'm a great crocheter (if I do say so myself) and a somewhat OK knitter... I was at Joann's today, buying buttons to add to a crochet project, when I started drooling over the fabric displays. Am thinking about trying to pick up sewing, but none of the craft stores near me offer classes. I have a Handy Stitch small hand-held sewing machine and no experience sewing...

Any suggestions? Smiley
