1  witch? in Halloween Costumes by mully4235 on: October 10, 2009 10:29:44 AM
Ok, I'm sounding stupid here, but I think I want to dress as a witch for Halloween.  I've never been one before.  Been everything from rainbow brite to a clown to a hooker even (when I was like 11 - what was my mom thinking!), but I've never been anything scarrier thana zombie for a friends halloween haunted yard/house thingy.  I don't even want to be a scary witch ( I have a pretty religious family and wouldn't want to completely irritate them, plus I have a 6 year old son).
Every year since my son was born I have dressed in rennaissance dress mostly nice dresses, but a few times as the wench look too and I just want something a little different this year.
What do witches wear?  Is there a pattern/tutorial somewhere?  I've looked online and there are a few I like, but I don't want to buy them, I want to make one.
Here are a few I like, just don't know how to go about making them or if they are even a good costume, right on track or completly out there and weird.
Also, I'm about 40-ish pounds overweight and live wear it can get super cold on Halloween so something warm is needed.

I know it's a child's but I think it's cute Smiley

Didn't have time to read all of the replies, so please, pardon me if this has already been suggested -

Wouldn't this be cute too turned "right" side up as a drawstring bag?!

I don't think it's ever been suggested?  But that would be really cute!

I'm not sure if I ever posted this one last year, but here's one I made last year after I did the other one.  It holds up better cause it's not felt.  Plus I put pockets in it.  It's a bit wrinkled though after not being used for nearly a year Smiley

3  Re: photography - my son - need opinion in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by mully4235 on: June 08, 2006 07:04:54 PM
Those selectively desaturated photos can look cute sometimes. I think it keeps the black and white from looking too harsh.
I liked the way the yellow was so I took your color and took everything except yellow out of it.

For some reason both the color version and the b&w seemed too harsh to me, but this is right in the middle.
This just keeps the warmth and gets rid of the contrasting coolness of the purple.
*shrug*

I like how you did that.  Could you tell me how? Smiley

Hi all, I love taking pics of my little guy and plan to get one I took the other day printed and put it in a nice fram and give it to my husband for fathers day, but I need help picking which version to use.  They are all the same pic, just different.

All black & white ( not sure why it's spotty on here)

5  quilted patchwork purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mully4235 on: May 20, 2006 03:51:32 PM
I saw a really pretty purse on Ebay that someone had made and I fell in love with it.  But, alas, it has already gone over what I could pay for it and still has 5 days left.   Sad  I'm cheap AND broke unfortunetly.  Unless I can sell something it's just not in my future  Cry   So, I did what I always try to do, make my own.  It didn't turn out quite like I wanted, but I think I'll make another and make it bigger and change the shape a little.

Oh, here's the link to the purse I want on Ebay:

6  Wall problems - what can I do to "fix" my bad walls?? in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by mully4235 on: February 04, 2006 01:20:25 PM
Could anybody give me any ideas on what I can do with the stupid walls in my craft room/office/playroom?  Two of the walls are ok, but the other 2 are older walls and they're really bad.  Like plaster walls that were papered over and painted over.  I want to paint them, but the flaws would still show.  I thought about wallpapering, but that would cost too much.  I can't afford to rip the walls out and drywall them either.  I thought about some sort of texture or something, but not sure what/how.  Another thing is that we're trying to sell our house so it can't be anything crazy.  Help please?  Here are a few pics of my horrible walls.

7  New purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mully4235 on: December 28, 2005 05:18:17 PM
I just finished a new purse the other day.  I had all my Christmas presents done and I needed a new purse to match my new coat!  It's pretty plain and simple, but I like it.  I think I'm finally getting better at making them.  So here it is:

It was my first time trying out the magnetic snaps. I think it turned out pretty good.

8  Purse for 2 year old cousin in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mully4235 on: December 18, 2005 09:23:50 AM
I wanted to make a purse for my 2 1/2 year old cousin and this is what I came up with.  I just had to buy the material it was so cute.  It turned out really well except for the lining ( I can never seem to get those right) and I had to sew it too close to the edge to really feel comfortable ( gotta keep that in mind before adding pocket and velcro next time ).  I'm just worried that the lining will fray and pull apart from the pink material, but I'm hoping the interfacing I ironed on will help that somewhat.  Keep your fingers crossed for me that it will put up with a few years of use before it pulls apart!  And the pocket is a teeny bit short on the sides so I hope that doesn't come apart either.  I might try another one if I have time, but I have so much more to finish before Christmas.
So, what do you think?  Think she'll like it?  Her favorite color is pink.

Inside:

My son with it for size comparison he's 6 months younger than she is:  ( he's gonna need therapy, he keeps trying to put on my makeup and he was way too comfortable holding the purse)

Ok, this is what I came up with.  Not entirely pleased with it (I hate the lining) and I hate to sew to close to the edge to feel comfortable with it, I just hope the lining doesn't fray.  Other than that I like it and might even make one for myself!  I'm going to post in in the completed section if you want to see the inside and my son with it for size comparison.

She's 2 and a half.
I never thought about her putting it over her head  Sad    I'll have to try it out on my son I guess, he's 2, but almost bigger than she is.   Hopefully I'll get a chance to make one.  I saw the cutest fabric the other day, I just have to get some money somehow.

I'd love to see a pic of the bird purse if you ever make one.  That sounds really cute!
I saw a purse that was really cute, but I didn't have enough to buy it.  I wonder how you'd make it.
It didn't show a pic of the back.
