I think as long as you're writing it completely on your own without looking at any other patterns for how to do it, it's your own no matter what else it looks like.

I second the advise of a bigger hook!

Thanks everyone! Smiley

This is adorable!  Who did you make it for?
It's for my son, Dante, who will be born next month! Smiley

So cute and colorful!  This reminds me of a crayon shaped pillow I had as a kid, there was a kit you could sew and stuff... I'd love to make one of the pillows (if I could ever find the kit), and maybe a blankie to go with it!  Fun fun fun, and great job!
I found a crochet pattern for a very large crayon pillow I was thinking of making, but I don't know if I'll get around to it.

This is soo cool!  how big is the finished item?
It's about 45"x46"

Fun Fun!!  I made the same one for my neice a year ago.  I put backing fabric on mine to hide all the strings on the back.  Yours turned out really nice! Smiley
That's a great idea. Smiley I didn't leave any strings though, I crocheted over the other color, which shows through more on the lighter colors but I didn't really think of another way to go about it.

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: estimating yarn amounts for graphghan? on: March 07, 2009 06:50:43 AM
Thank you. Smiley That makes a lot of sense.  I have a little of the yarn type I'm thinking of using so I'll go ahead and swatch it up.

Thanks!  Grin
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / estimating yarn amounts for graphghan? on: March 05, 2009 10:28:36 AM
Hello! Smiley
I  was wondering if anyone knew how to estimate how much of each color yarn you would need for a graphghan? Or if you know a site that says how that'd be great too.
thanks
Mary
8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: scarlet macaw on: February 22, 2009 11:39:33 AM
I found it on ravelry, the site to order it from is http://www.innerchildcrochet.com/patterns/sale/scarlet_macaw.html. You automatically download it after paying.

This pattern is actually very very easy, so if you can chain, sc, dc I would go for it.  Wink

I crocheted this puppet from a pattern I bought online. My sister is into puppetry so I thought it would make a nice gift.  Grin
