2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re:Selling crafts on e-bay... on: February 20, 2004 08:20:11 PM
I sell quite a bit on ebay and I have pretty good luck. The main thing to concentrate on is having the right keywords. Sucha s "DIY" or "handmade", etc.....
I sell hippie patchwork stuff, and usually people search for that stuff under "hippie patchwork". So be sure to use the right categories and the right keywords. I think its a great place to start out. What i have found about garage sales is that people are usually looking for bargains, not to spend alot of $$. So just make sure you are getting paid what your products are worth.

Ebay, baby!!!!!
It's a great way to make money and get your name out there! I sell my stuff on there and have alot of repeat customers.

Good Luck!!

I make patchie clothes and all kinds of other stuff, too. Those curtains are awesome! Plus recycled too! Here's a pic of some of the curtains I've made for our house.

6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re:web site depression on: February 06, 2004 08:23:46 AM
I spent all of last semester in web design  and computer classes. And I guess I didnt really like it because I feel the same way as you all do. As long as its pretty, it'll work. I did learn a few very important things.

1) It's not a bad idea to learn how to make your pics internet ready. This should compress the file size so that they load more quickly. I leave web sites very often if the pictures take too long to load.

2) Follow a theme to unify the whole site. Dont do a different look on each page! Its confusing to the viewer.

3) I'm sure theres more, I'll add them later.

I designed my site with Netscape Composer which is free with Netscape Navigator. It's a free download on the web. Its really simple to use. Like cut and paste! My host is Yahoo and Im pretty satisfied. My site needs a major makeover too. I just cant find the time to do it! What I really need is a logo!! Anyone have any ideas for me??
