....runs of to the fabricstore to buy fabric... oh no it's friday night: they're closed!!

First thing tomorrow: buy fabric to make this halter. It's gonna be nice weather this weekend (77 and the sun is finally coming out over here) and i definitely need this top  Cheesy

And your tutorial makes my think I really can do this (it's gonna be my 2nd  project). Thanks!

Wish I stumbled upon this site before I brought a lot of clothes to the Salvation Army  Cheesy There was a long skirt that was perfect for this kind of recon...

I'm in the same position as you are... I'd really like to sew, but have little experience.  So I started with the classic jean to skirt-thing. And it works... halfway now and I'm already amazed about my sewing-skills  Cheesy

Just search at the forum for jean to skirt and you'll find lots of ideas.

This one site I found really helpfull:

And: just look around the forum! Search for tutorials and you'll find loads of stuff.
Or you could try your hand at making a handbag or a purse. You won't need a lot of fabric and some patterns are quite easy.
