1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Re: Greeting Card Distress on: May 20, 2012 07:01:47 AM
I've done different things with greeting cards:

(1) use adhesive corners - then you can always remove the card from the page if you want to do something else with it...

(2) if using the pocket pages, make the page with the card on it, slide the page into the protector and carefully use an xacto knife to make a slit along the fold of the card, but only through the page protector.  Open the card through the slit.  Downside:  front of card isn't protected by the page protector, but you can open it and read the inside without pulling everything apart.

(3) For our Christmas cards I make a separate "album with 2 covered pieces of chipboard and then hole punch the cards and cover and use two binder rings to hold it all together.

Don't know if any of those would work for you...
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Re: Supplies on: May 20, 2012 06:51:46 AM
It is definitely a slippery slope...

Definitely look for sales... I've found some great ones at scrapbooking.com and Joanns usually has their scrapbooking stuff on sale 40% off (Hint - pick out what you like and put it in your shopping cart and wait for a sale!)

My list of "must haves"

Paper - prints and solids...

Adhesive - some sort of double stick tape - I use the ATG gun, but started w/ 3M double stick tape from Walmart - also what I get people for "starter" gifts

Paper trimmer - wait for a sale or coupon

Maybe some letter stickers if you don't like your handwriting...  Alphabet stamps and some ink pads (check for acid free) are also a cheap/reuseable option.

Other than that the rest is embellishments... That's where the fun begins...

Enjoy!
