1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Picnic Blanket Help! on: May 20, 2012 07:21:36 AM
This is my first post here and hoping someone can help!

I am making a picnic blanket approx 80x80. The top is going to be strips. I am basically quilting it. Anyways, I'm not sure what to use for the back. I am looking at vinyl, flannel back vinyl, laminated cotton, and oil cloth. I've never used any of them so I need advice.  What is easiest to work with? What is the most durable (I have a 2 year old & 1 year old), and best for the purpose?

I am also trying to decide on if I needing batting and if so, what to use but that may be a question for the quilting board.

I am trying to do this for as little $ as possible but I do want it to last for years to come!

Thanks in advance!
