22  Re: Jazz/Blues etc CD Swap (gallery) in The Swap Gallery by BethyG on: March 08, 2006 06:11:00 PM

Unfortunately, I was so eager to play the one that Bethyg sent me that I forgot to take a pic prior to playing it and somehow the label got stuck in my cd player and ripped off.  I am soooo sorry I don't have pics.  Do you have any bethy?  It was an awesome cd with a bunch of White Stripes songs on it that I love.

i do actually have a pic for such an occurrence! however there is a catch- i made two slightly different covers based on a few sketches i did a while back. I'm not sure which i sent to who! anyways I'll post both so please don't label me bragging!
...i am proud of them however
here they are:

I'm wondering which i sent to whom now- i decided it'd be a fun surprise though.

for a graphic arts class i took i did a series of "rock women" pictures. they were in a cartoonish style.
here's a picture of all of them:

their all women whose fame comes from music but i thought you might get ideas perhaps.
from left to right:
Joan Jet, Karen O (the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) Brody Dalle (the Distillers), Kathleen Hanna (Le Tigre), Janis Joplin, Qwen stefani, Meg White (The White Stripes)

28  Valentines Day "Picture book" (CAUTION image heavy!) in Valentine's Day by BethyG on: February 02, 2006 04:19:02 AM
Quote from: the littlest ninja on January 09, 2006 05:49:18 PM
Okay, I haven't actually done this, but I thought this would be a neat thing to do.

Go to a public place (grocery store, park, school etc.) with one letter per one piece of paper to spell out "I love you *name*" or whatever message you want, photograph a stranger holding one sheet for each sheet (except maybe the last one, with a heart or "!" or something as you, and then get the photos developed or printed, and put them in a little book (in order) and decorate it.

i did it- but with myself dressed up in a diffrent "costume" every time. my sister helped me take the pictures. (my mother thought one was a bit risqu, but w/e it's not for her)
brief summery:
-I was in a dress that he really likes for the I
-I was "sleeping" in some boxer shorts that we have a joke about and with a pillow he got me for christmas for L
-I was dressed up "orental" for the 1st O (he says asians are really hot) (and that i have asian hair)
-For V I was dressed up in scrubs because of a joke we have (the punch line is " I want THAT Doctor")
-In E I was a "rock star"- he's in a band and i'm sort of in the band (guest vocals) (my mom thought this was risqu)
-For Y I am a doll- a very cute one at that. i get random compulsions to dress up to go into public- this is my fav.
-For the 2nd O i am "at the office" with a mug that they were giving away at the mayor of cleveland's ball
-For U, I am dressed up all warm in a coat and such- it's cold up here and he likes it that way

take a look:

You (him- Brian)

29  pop bottle lamp in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by BethyG on: January 29, 2006 03:45:45 PM
This is was made from a bottle of orange pop that i got at world market (lovely place!). my mother helped me drill the whole for the chord and helped me assemble it. wonderful isn't it? it looks great in my vintage- decorated room.

i love the label- it's so... cool (for lack of a better word)

30  Window Paintings in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by BethyG on: January 29, 2006 09:33:05 AM
Background: well my mom was taking all of the windows in the upstairs out and replacing them (i'm crafty, she's handy- it works out well sometimes) and i asked her to let me keep them. She did, being the mother of mine that she is and i decided that they could be "art". i also had these ugly shades over the windows in the basement (where i live) so i figured it'd be really cool if i could do something different and slightly more original. that's where the windows came into play
take a look!:

(over one of my windows and this pic displays part of my bottle collection)

(over the other window in my room- in the de stijl style!)

(my other one in my posession- i was inspired by the cleveland botanical gardens)

i also made another one for my grandma for chirstmas. she kept raving about it- i was so pleased she liked it. it was from the chronicles of narnia.

tell me what you think please!
