Love these, I have the same molds and am making the same kind of glitter pendants!  Fun!

The hunt for new molds is always fun.
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / DIY Silicone Mold with Cornstarch - Questions on: September 09, 2013 06:06:33 PM
Has anyone ever tried this?? I bought silicone, corn starch and baby oil today to make some molds.  But the molds don't seem as "siliconey" or bouncy as they do in the tutorial videos I watched on youtube.  And of course in those videos they don't say the amount to use of either ingredient, maybe my portions are off.  But it feels more like a dry crumbly clay, so I added more silicone and then it was too sticky.  If anyone has tips or tricks, pleassssse let me know!

Also included: a pic of the ingredients I bought, and a couple molds i'm working on.

Which transfer technique did you use?  I'd image getting all those lines so perfect might be difficult!

Looks amazing, and I love the idea.

I have a friend who loves rats and we thought merkins were hilarious.

Two things though. I had no idea what a "merkin" was.

Merkin: A pubic wig. Merkins were originally worn by prostitutes after shaving their genitalia, and are now used as decorative items, erotic devices, or in films, by both men and women

Now that is out of the way, I also never painted with water colors before. I think it came out pretty good!  I traced first, so that helped tons.

17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: The random RESIN question thread! on: July 28, 2013 12:38:05 PM
I recently started working with resin, and am loving every bit of it.

My favorite molds are silicone molds. Target dollar spot usually has cute ones for a dollar.  Right now I think they have pixelated hearts, lightning bolts and dollar signs.  You don't need mold release or anything, and they are easy to pop out.

What I have found to be really helpful:
wooden craft sticks.  (I got a decent sized bag at wal-mart in the craft section for about 2 bucks.  You can reuse them until they get too gunky, or i usually leave them wet on a paper towel, and its time for a new one)
Plastic cups.
silicone molds.

I also use the envirotex lite resin.  I just to two cap fulls, each time, and they makes out 6 or 7 pendants.

I feel like i'm getting a little jumbled here, i'll stop while i'm ahead.  Message me if you any questions!

Thanks for that link, lots of good information!

And haven't been able to find it, or just haven't gotten around to getting it?  I got mine at Michaels, and used a 50% off coupon.  Such a good deal!

RESIN!

I'm new to resin, so if the topic is old or played I apologize ahead of time.

Holy crap, its so fun and easy.  What does everyone else think about resin?  Tips, tricks, problems? Hates, loves?

Its like christmas morning every time my pendants are ready to pop outta the molds. Lol...

Ahh, i love this!  I was just attempting to carve my first rubber stamp this morning.  A logo, and of course I forgot that it needed to be a mirror image, I got half way through.  LOL.
