1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Sewing Kit Swap Gallery on: August 10, 2008 06:49:40 AM
Oh my, I would love to take credit for the box pattern, but alas, I simply used my google search skills to find it. Luckily there is already a tutorial for it here: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/crafting/article/0,,HGTV_3352_1399574,00.html
It takes a bit of time to make, but it's a fun project. I'd love to see photos if you make one!

That is too cute!! I pulled all the plants out in the flowerbox by the front door and planted Irish Moss there. I've decided I want to get a Gnome to watch over it! Where did you find that big gnome? That's the style I'm looking for--very traditional. I searched ebay and so far haven't seen any traditional gnomes I like.

P.S. Adorable tiny version1! Smiley

I actually found him in a strangers front yard. I drive by their house all the time and they have about 10 garden gnomes hanging out there. When it came time to photograph the little guy I knocked on their door to ask if I could take photos. They weren't home so I took some pictures quickly, but I figured they probably wouldn't mind anyway since it was all for the sake of a gnome. So thats the story, I'm sorry I don't have a gnome source for you, but might I suggest sculpy?  Wink

Inspired by these pajamas,

I made a 1 1/4 inch garden gnome.

Here he is with a yard stick and a quarter for size comparison

The gnome is made out of sculpy. To make him, I stuck him on a toothpick and used a sewing needle to carve his features. To make his tiny rake, I cut little pieces of wire and glued them together using a pair of tweezers and super glue and then painted it with acrylic paint.

And for another size conparison, here he is, the garden gnome for the garden gnome's garden

It's so funny/creepy that you actually made this. I was thinking of trying to find this pattern myself. because, well, see for yourself. http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/chi/54508796.html
