I came here to post pictures of my crocheted bridesmaid bouquets, and I saw that someone else is knitting/felting theirs! Crafty minds think alike, eh?

I came up with these for the bridesmaids:




They're just a simple circle done all in double crochet, folded over at the base. I used pearls for the center (pistil? stamen? haha, it's been too long since I've learned plant anatomy!) and wrapped the wire "stem" with floral tape, then wrapped the stems with blue ribbon. My bouquet is going to consist of white roses and white calla lilies (fake, not crocheted) and I wanted something similar but not too matchy-matchy.

I might play with them a bit more, but I quite like how they're turning out

After seeing the Kissing Gourami, I decided to try to make one of my bala sharks (we loooove balas in this household). I used the ones in my tank as reference, but here's a photo too just in case you don't know what one looks like



I'm not completely happy with it, but definitely relieved that it at least LOOKS like a bala! There was no pattern, I made it up as I went along and it took about an hour.

So I finally taught myself how to *officially* crochet (I had only ever done small things made entirely of slip stitches) and here is my first finished project!



I used the pattern for the head/body of the "cupcake critters" (basically just a ball) found here:

then made the stalk on my own. I had to tie them up though because they got a little unruly (onion bed head?)

Okay, so these aren't crafted FOR my pets.. but they were pet-inspired.

First, I noticed my bathroom walls were looking kind of bare. I dug through my fabric stash and came up with this to hang on the wall (my bathroom colours are burgundy/cream/black):



I've also been looking everywhere for ornaments that look like my girls, and it's near impossible (they have just about every breed of dog in ornament form, but only two to choose from for cats). So I gave up and just made my own:



And some pictures of the girls for reference Raziel is the all-black beauty and Joelle is the Toyger pain-in-the-butt (she's sitting at my feet crying because I stopped paying attention to her for two minutes. She's lucky she's so cute!)

My best friend is due at the beginning of September, and she was unsatisfied with the selection of Boppy covers that Babies R Us had. So of course I had to make her one! But first I decided to make a practice run:

I'll probably give this one to her sister-in-law that just had a baby in March. I think the colour scheme matches her carseat/stroller/pack-n-play.

This is the fabulous fabric that I'm going to use for my best friend's. The lady at Joann's was rather shocked when I told her what it was going to be used for!
