1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Elitist Crafters? (A wee rant) on: November 30, 2012 09:44:36 PM
I am 23, and look a bit older. My age doesn't get me strange stares at the craft store, my large and colorful tattoos do. I have one on the front of my thigh that is a huge octopus. It always peeks out from under my dresses and skirts. Occasionally men with ask to look at it lol Other than that though, I get a lot of glaces down at my leg and dirty looks at my face if I am paying attention.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Why do people expect you to make them things? on: November 29, 2012 12:43:01 PM
Oh I have a new one. Since it is Christmas time I am working on gifts for people. Every person who finds out what I happen to be working on at the moment they ask what I am making for them. One person was just joking, but the others weren't at all.

One friend asked me to make him a hoodie that he saw me wearing in a picture. I told him;

"That's not a hoodie, that is one of those hoods with a long scarf attached to keep my neck warm." He decided that I certainly could make a hoodie and asked for one. I told him he would need to at LEAST pay for fabric, and notions.

Him: "What are notions?"
Me: "Zippers, needles, thread, patterns... basically anything that I need that isn't the fabric."
Him: "Oh... so how much?"

At this point I did a little online sleuthing and discovered that even though I was going to the fabric store on black friday (I know, I'm crazy), there were no hoodie patterns for less than $12. I got back to him and told him that not only would the price be $30-40 but it would have to wait until after Christmas. Also he would have to pay for shipping. He lost interest...

Does anyone else notice that the gimmie gimmies get a lot worse around the holidays?
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Wicked Children Altered Tin Gallery! on: September 15, 2012 11:37:03 AM
Thank you for all of the lovely comments about my tin everyone! The castle took me FOR-E-VER. (Imagine that kid in the sandlot saying forever over and over, please.)

I haven't gotten my tin yet. Actually a got in the mail last monday, however, I work 10 hour days and can't go to the post office during the week normally. Stupid me thought the post office that the package was at would be open since the other post office in town is. Now THAT confused and upset me.

I'm off to make a cheesecake, that way I will have something to bribe my mother-in-law with when I ask her to pick it up for me on monday.... Sad

Yay! I finally get to look at the gallery because I sent my tin! I wasn't allowed to look until I was done! That is what I told myself!

Another extension?! I just had a double heart attack. Cackle and Racky... if you keep giving me more time, I am going to keep making more stuff, and then I will be poor because the shipping cost will be 1 million dollars.

Thanks for posting pictures! I am still working on fixing it.

I do want to tell you one thing about that golden snitch piece MandyMo, I went back and forth like 10 times trying to decide if I should alter the background of that piece. I LOVED the way it looked, but I was afraid you would think I was lazy. I think it looks like a snitch flying through the night sky.

I'm glad you like it.  Smiley
