2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Pattern Making Books on: August 18, 2004 07:05:40 PM
I'm pretty sure there's no thread specifically about this.
I'm looking for a good book on sizing and pattern making... All the things I know about it are things I either found out, or invented, or something liker that, I'm prolly doing it the wrong way and making easy things difficult, so does anybody has any suggestions on good books they've found about this??

I would be most ceirtanly thankful for any help.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / sweatshirt on: February 23, 2004 09:13:08 AM
I was in conflict about posting this because it is not incredibly creative or anything... is just that I am so very happy with the results...

this is an old sweatshirt with a hoodie... I freehanded the desing on a piece of felt.... Then I pined it up to the back and sew it...

http://images.snapfish.com/339%3A787923232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23234%3A649%3A388ot1lsi

is a good alternative to silkscreening (too expensive for me)...
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / tape wallet revamped on: February 22, 2004 11:12:53 PM
not made out of paper, not quite a purse... wasn't sure where to post... but its a cointainer too, a bag in way... so here it is...

Ok, I made my duct tape wallet and it was cool and all but it didn't have a place to put my coins and you couldn't close it, so it wasn't very functional...

I had some velcro laying around so I came up with this:
http://images.snapfish.com/339%3A74%3B923232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23234%3A9884%3A%3B5ot1lsi

Then I made a little pouch for coins and taped it to the back side of the wallet, and used the same ideaof the closure to attach some velcro to it...  And the pasted some plastic stickers...

I also made this other, I cut a piece of fabric a little bigger and attached it some more duct tape...  For the closure I used a piece of duct tape of aprox. 8 cm pasted it to some more fabric (same thing for the credit card holders), cut in half, taped it to the back and sewed a button to it,  then pasted the other half on the front of wallet to make a sort of eye... For this one I taped the pouch on the inside...

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / heart fabric on: January 13, 2004 12:32:53 AM

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / hearty scarf - Tutorial on: January 13, 2004 12:07:03 AM
Here we go, I really made my best on this one, so I hope you like it...

You need:
Fleece
Thread (the thick one you use for embroidery), different colors
Felt, small pieces from assorted colors
A piece of thin cardboard (I used an old folder)
Fabric paint

Brush
Scissors
Measuring Tape
Ruler
Embroidery Needle
Hole punching thingy

First you will have to punch some holes and cut some squares in your cardboard to make a sort of stencil
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349498%3C%3A94ot1lsi

Then with the fabric paint, mark the stencils on the scraps felt, the point is to use contrasting colors.
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349498%3C%3A95ot1lsi
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349498%3C%3A96ot1lsi

While it dries, cut your scarf, mine was 150cm long and 19cm wide, I took the measurements from my favorite scarf.
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349498%3C%3A97ot1lsi
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349498%3C%3A98ot1lsi

It looks much nicer if you cut the ends round, I used a T ruler with a curve on the inside to get nice round ends.
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E2323494995389ot1lsi

Then with a really contrasting color embroider de edges  I made an spiral kind of things (jee instructions are difficult when you dont really know the language).
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349499538%3Aot1lsi

When you are done check that the paint dry and cut some felt hearts out.
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E2323494995392ot1lsi
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E2323494995393ot1lsi

Pin them to the end of the scarf and embroider them with, again, using contrasting thread.
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E2323494995394ot1lsi
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp54%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349499%3A%3A3%3Bot1lsi

Repeat on the other side, and voila! you are all set to wear a your pretty hearty scarf
http://images.snapfish.com/3396%3B%3A9523232%7Ffp58%3Dot%3E232%3B%3D55%3B%3D54%3C%3DXROQDF%3E232349499%3A%3A42ot1lsi

Again one of the nicest parts is that I got to use some of my leftovers =)
