16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Good books for beginner knitters? on: October 29, 2004 04:28:07 PM
I think Stich and Bitch it's not so awesome for beginners... Cause the intructions on casting and such are not that great cuz the illustrations well, they could be better...

Check knit wit by amy r. singer, it's really really good, very visual,  it has stuff on kinds of yarn, and how to read yarn labels and casting, how to read patterns, and very good instructions on various stiches... it also has some simple but cool projects (various scarfs included)....

The writter is the editor of knitty.com ...

I highly recomend it
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: I want to make D.I.Y. a Flower ribbon pin. on: October 27, 2004 09:44:10 AM
By the way, anyone can help me with the explanations (I'm not an English speaker, you know...)? The thing is: in the 1st pic, when the ribbon has been cut, are the pieces sewn by one side or just put together? And how do I manage do fold them square?
Sorry for the inconveniences and thank you very much!
