1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Question about Linen and prep (wash? iron?) for hoops on: June 29, 2013 08:07:42 AM
Hi!

I am just getting started with hand embroidery. I have some simple designs that I will be transferring to linen to make some nice decorative hoops. I haven't worked much with linen but wasn't sure if I should pre-wash it and/or iron it?

I see lots of recommendations for working with linen for clothes, but i'm not sure what folks do when they are working on hoops that will be hung on the wall. Any suggestions or descriptions of what works for them are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Doctor Who inspire Felt heart on: June 29, 2013 05:55:27 AM
I wanted to experiment with felt and teach myself some embroidery skills. I had previously sketched an idea for a tardis conversation heart around Valentine's Day. I had to add a fez (though attaching it was difficult) since i'm a huge fan of the 11th Doctor.

Thanks for looking :-)

4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Lion with beads on: January 20, 2013 08:04:53 PM
Just finished this guy!

I used the lion pattern in the lion brand yarn amigurumi book (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-amigurumi-lion-2)

I glued the beads down though would have liked to sew them on instead.

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Question on the Difference between amigurumi and afghan patterns on: August 28, 2012 01:35:20 PM
Hi!

I have been crocheting for about a year. Primarily I work on amigurumi. I have an afghan blanket pattern that I want to make for my Dad. I think I understand the pattern.

Are there any huge differences between amigirumi patterns and afghans? It looks like it has stitch types and count for each row. There is also a big diagram of the entire blanket with a key indicating the stitch type.

I figured checking would be good before investing in lots of beautiful yarn :-)

Thanks!

My first amigurumi that is out of my brain instead of from an existing pattern. I am so happy with the result!
