1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Wizard of Oz office decorating on: October 04, 2013 01:09:19 PM
I was in charge of decorating our office at work for Homecoming! (I work at the Career Center at a University.)

When you first walk in, you walk in under rainbows.

Then you see a twister! (It had blinking lights inside to replicate the look of lightning.)

Oh noes!  The house fell on the Wicked Witch of the East!

The yellow brick road, along with instructions. Wink

From the Lollipop Guild, with love.

An apple tree from the enchanted forest.

POPPIES!! (Almost as good as puppies.)

It's deathbeforedishes! Blue gingham... check!  Red shoes... check!

The main characters came into the Career Center and we helped them write their resumes and helped them find a professional portrait for their LinkedIn accounts.

We also had job postings available as well... since we are the Career Center and all...

Flying monkeys!!

And of course, the melted witch.

It was a ton of work on my part and I couldn't have done it without help from a handful of amazing student workers.  But this was too. much. fun!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Every piece of you hoopla on: September 30, 2013 05:36:43 PM
I finished my WIP from last year!  Grin

Every piece of you is a burst of beautiful.

I made it for my two little girls bedroom. It's all French knots. (Except for the clouds.)

I am now taking a well deserved break from French knots... Wink

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Inga Bags on: June 03, 2013 08:59:43 PM
I am still learning and getting better at reading patterns.

Here is my first attempt at a crocheted bag... it took me over a week, but I am so happy with how it turned out. Cheesy

It's at its new home at jo_mama's house.

My daughters loved it so much, and wanted one of their own. So here is the first one I made to keep. It's smaller, but just as awesome. Cheesy

I sent this as an angel for the Not Just Thread Embroidery Swap Round 9.  I angeled for perfectlybohemian.

Original post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=420665.msg5030065#msg5030065

I hand embroidered the image of a cuckoo clock onto white cotton fabric and backed it with felt. I mounted it to a carved piece of wood that I had painted with a bright calypso blue around the edges. Hubby drilled the hole for the clock work for me (I have really bad wrists and couldn't push hard enough.)

I molded a little blue bird by hand with german glitter polymer clay and attached him on his little perch. I sprayed the wood with a light coat of shellac to protect the wood and then attached the clock hands.

I really like how it turned out.  It's a working hand embroidered cuckoo clock based an image from her pinterest. She loves woodland critters, so I knew I had to give it a try!

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Tiny Faerie House on: April 20, 2013 06:38:41 PM
I angeled in the Anything Goes Tiny House Swap.

I made my partner a polymer clay mushroom faerie house!  It was my first time using polymer clay to make something with multiple colors and that wasn't flat and cut from a cutter.

It was a German polymer clay with glitter already in it! Which I really had fun with.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Doctor Who Allons-y Hoopla on: April 15, 2013 10:44:59 AM
This is my second Allons-y hoop that I've made in a swap. This one is kickin' it with katpac now. Grin I may need to make one for myself soon.

I used satin floss on a cotton background.

And accented it with clear glass seed beads.

Thanks for looking. Cheesy

My first one can be seen here:

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Dalek Poetry Reading on: April 03, 2013 01:12:59 PM
I made this for Toralune in the crafty detective swap.

It was inspired by the quote I embroidered on it.

He even has a TARDIS blue coffee mug! Smiley
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Through the Hobbit Hole on: March 29, 2013 11:27:59 AM
I embroidered this for Goldfishpollywog for the Embroidery Swap!

It was such a blast to make!

It reads:
The road goes ever on and on, from the door where it began...
Now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow if I can.

I was inspired by this:

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / We are all four or five decisions away on: February 07, 2013 04:21:34 PM
My husband and I have a guilty pleasure called 'Hoarders'. One of our favorite people on the show is Matt. He is consistently saying things that make us smile.

Well, on one episode Matt says, "We are all four or five decisions away from sh*tting in a bucket" when clearing out a homeless man's camp outside a hoarders house after he finds the 'toilet' he had been using.

My husband and I warn each other with that quote whenever we feel like the other person is about to make a decision that isn't the brightest or most productive, so I found a vintage font and cross stitched it, sewed it to 1930's style fabric and hung it behind glass.

It's one of my favorite cross stitch projects I've done so far and it hangs on the wall next to my side of the bed.
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / My first amigurumi on: November 14, 2012 05:31:41 AM
I have been making crochet balls for a little while, but this is my first animal.

I crocheted him along with crochet geek on youtube.

He is for my little K for Yule.

Now to find something to make for little M...  Cheesy
