1  Volumptuous Horses & Cable Lines.. in a geometric love dance. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by 6iggle on: August 16, 2010 10:36:09 PM

heres a shirt i made the other day for a girlfriend Smiley
she basically handed me these shirts and said... just do what you do..
so i did..

before:
plain gray shirt + AA funny graphic tee

after:

she did say she wanted the horses in a L shape and some on the back, so i did that.
then i cut out the other horses and just placed them wherever i thought looked fun. (one of them is upside down Tongue)
i also cut slits across the neck of the shirt and one of the sleeves.. it needed more skin Wink

i also took some black fabric i had lying around and cut them into long strips and sewed the strips on to make a nice graffic pattern.
a lot of what i've sewn this summer has been very geometric and i guess that still stands Tongue it was hard for me to stick with the t-shirt form. i was soo tempted to do a tank/ 1shoulder but i dont have a modelllllllllllll.

I dont know.. at first i didnt really like it, but the more i look at it, the more im okay with it.... what do you guys think?

2  Re: Camo Skirt.. pt. 2!! eXposed seams, pockets and a bow :) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by 6iggle on: June 25, 2010 08:41:08 PM
BTW, how did you make the bow?

After you've pieced together the skirt, the bow should be one of the last things you do (besides waistband)
Hope this helps:  Smiley

3  Camo Skirt.. pt. 2!! eXposed seams, pockets and a bow :) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by 6iggle on: June 24, 2010 02:55:20 PM
Last summer I made a camo skirt from my sister's pants. (seen here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=308873.0)
THIS summer; my sister doesn't have any camo pants for me to rip up so I went to Value Village and bought one for $2.99 !! Smiley

I made them pretty similar, but this time, the front pocket is actually functional  Smiley

BEFORE:   (pic taken halfway through cutting, lol. I got too excited Wink)

AFTER:

I basically took the pants apart at the seams, then cut out the pockets I wanted to use.
Then cut the pants into strips vertically, and from then, selectively cutting squares and serging them back together. Then I took some black stretch cotton, sewed a tube, folded it in half and pined, sewed it across the top. I kept the bottom hem of the pants intact so that I could use them for the bottom of the skirt. Smiley

Please give me your thoughts and any criticism Smiley

4  Blue Houndstooth, bow, lacey goodness ! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by 6iggle on: June 20, 2010 10:28:42 PM
For some reason, I have random sewing sprees.
and then make nothing for months at a time. =_=!!

This was made mostly from scratch, but the beige meshy fabric is straight off a shirt i never wore (it was too tight on the arms, so i chopped 'em off)  Grin I still have the body of the shirt, but that's a whole nother project.  Wink
Then I made a simple tube top out of the brown fabric and blue hounds tooth i am INLOVE WITH.
Then I put 'em together.
Took some lace. Tied a bow. Sewed that baby down.

..I actually made the skirt as well, but from scratch..
But if anyone cares, I made a tube for the waist-part and a strip of fabric about 1.5 x the length of your waistband part. Pin, sew.  Smiley

I love this shirt- it's gotta be one of my fav things I've ever made. It's sailor-ish but school girl.. but with a tad of lolita...  Roll Eyes

In the box was a drawing from her little ones, a cool dino button, and 2 notebooks with blank pages with dino tracings on the cover! She also included the softest dino quilt ever! theres a lot of dino fabric used, and i think she even upcycled some old t-shirts in there! i can tell it took a lot of time, theres a lot of little rectangular pieces:)

I recieved my pages from thatkid today! Smiley

Some themes I gave was: calm, tranquility, happiness.
She printed off some really nice pictures and gave a little blurb about each one.

Blurbs:
Dolphin One "Dolphins have always been one of my favourite things. I find them to be very peaceful and Inspiring. I had the chance to feed the dolphins in florida, and it was one of the best moments of my life.
Sunset "This is Conrad's Beach on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore. I took this photo one evening during a walk. There was no one else there, and it was very quiet and peaceful. The ocean was so gentle and calm.
Beach Shore "This is Lawrencetown beach in Nova Scotia. Some of my best childhood memories happened here. I took this photo after spending the day on the beach with my mother. I find it to be a very inspirational place to write poems and stories"

I'm jealous that you live near beaches! Sad
Thanks so much for the pages!

Yay! I'm glad it arrived safely.
I took some pics before I sent it out Smiley

The green fabric is actually upcycled from this skirt. It wasn't too pretty as a skirt but I loved the embroidery and the beads! Since you wanted a roll to take with you on camping trips, I thought the nice green and flowery embroidery was really nice:

here it is again, opened, along with some stitch markers I hope you'll enjoy that I received in another swap (I don't knit much anymore)

some detailing on the inside:

and rolled up:

I was quite happy with how it turned out.
Hope you enjoy the dyes!
