1  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap 4!! in The Swap Gallery by PlayItGeorge on: May 02, 2007 10:42:15 PM
Wow, where to start!  Lapoli sent me an amazing, amazing package.

She sent me the yarn and pattern for some Fetching gloves, which looks great!  A beautiful color.  The yarn is Cashsoft.

She also sent me candy (the peanut butter kisses....OMG), some books that we had actually discussed over PMs, embroidery floss, lots of knitting notions, a bookmark, cute headbands, some little coasters, and a White Sox pizza cutter and bottle opener(note what is on my TV when I took the pics)....I have no idea where she got those b/c she certainly doesn't live in Sox territory!!  And there's even more than what I remembered to list--check out the pics!  I could barely fit it in the camera range! (that candle with the little glass shade and pictures of cats were mine to begin with)

Thank you so much and I hope you like what I've sent you!!

2  Re: A Very Dishalicious Gallery for knit dishcloths! :-) in The Swap Gallery by PlayItGeorge on: April 15, 2007 10:10:45 AM
Yay! My package from Elphie arrived and it is great!!

I received a ball band dishcloth in great bright summery colors  I also got a cute pen, some soap that smells great, and I think Elphie has been reading my blog because she sent me some embroidery stuff!!  I have been meaning to learn how to embroider and I have been buying some initial supplies the past few weeks.  She included some floss and an apron along with the pattern.

Thanks for being such a great swap partner!!

3  Knitty's Zigzag--pullover/tunic style top in Knitting: Completed Projects by PlayItGeorge on: March 30, 2007 05:39:25 PM
Hot off the needles (I literally cut the last end less than 10 minutes ago), here is my new favorite FO ever.  I am sorry for the crappiness of the pictures, it's dark here already, but I just had to share.

I used just over 8 skeins of Cashmerino DK, I did not double strand it as the pattern says.  This created a lightweight, drapey garment.  It took me about 6 weeks.  The pattern is pretty straightforward, I think it's a great design, very unique how the designer incorporates "zigzags" throughout the  piece.

I haven't seen too many of these out there but I highly recommend this pattern!!

Because things aren't going so well for dear Elphie here is what she received from me:

And, a tea towel, that says "Dunder Mifflin" because she is a fan of The Office:

It's easier to make the letters out IRL!!

Hope things are going OK with our organizer!

5  Telemark Ski Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by PlayItGeorge on: January 17, 2007 02:55:31 PM

This took me about 3 months off and on, and I used Knitpicks Telemark yarn as recommended.

Pretty straightforward pattern but I wish it alloted for steek placement when knitting!  Cutting the steeks was pretty messy because of it and I had to reinforce it with another round of crochet inside.  It's all good now though.

It's very warm and I hope it keeps me warm for many winters to come.

I recommend this pattern if you have steeked before and are looking to expand your colorwork knowledge.  Not a pattern for the faint of heart, as I'm convinced it raised my blood pressure a few points!

ETA a better pic of the closeup of the motif.

6  Re: Projects from Weekend Knitting by Melanie Falick in Knitting: Completed Projects by PlayItGeorge on: December 21, 2006 09:27:23 PM
The Royal Linen wasn't too bad to knit with.  It was rather splitty and required attention, but it did turn out so nicely knit up that it was hard for me to dislike it! Thanks for the compliments!

I finished my third FO from this book tonight, the super mittens, using under one skein of Lamb's Pride Bulky.

Simple knit, but very warm, and a good use of LPB as I don't find it too harsh and scratchy against my hands.  I think they probably took under three hours total to make too.

I finished the baby sweater.  I made a pullover style using Filatura Lanarota Royal Linen from Smiley's Yarns.

8  Injured cat--any ideas on comforting crafts? in Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions by PlayItGeorge on: December 14, 2006 12:58:02 PM
So my poor kitty broke his foot.  Now he looks like this:

Does anyone have any ideas for any kind of toys/comforting items I could make for him?  He is supposed to have limited activity for the next 4-6 weeks so I'm trying to come up with things to entertain him that don't require him to run around the house.  I don't want him to be bored out of his kitty mind while he's mending!

9  Finished FrouFrou--Lion Brand Wool Ease in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by PlayItGeorge on: November 22, 2006 09:05:00 PM
I hope you like it!  It was a weird pattern to make but I am happy with how it all came together.  Please ignore the weird pin, I need to find a decent one before I can wear this out in public!

Here is my swatch.

Got gauge with 3s.  Love how it turned out.  I'm casting on for the body now!
