1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / DIY Easy Snowman Christmas Ornaments on: November 07, 2013 04:33:56 AM

These darling Christmas ornaments are such fun to make and they would make AWESOME Christmas gifts for teachers and friends. They are made out of recycled bottle caps. These snowmen will be a great addition to any tree. They are also a great treat to add to the Holiday fun of making your own Christmas ornaments.

You can see us make these cool snowmen by watching our "How To" video.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is what you will need:
Bottle Caps
White Spray Paint
Orange and Black Markers
Black Felt
Small Twigs
Thin Black Ribbon
Glue Gun
Yarn
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The first thing that I do is make a scarf by crocheting with a chain stitch. I make it about 5 1/2 inches. If you do not have a crochet hook, I show you in the video how you can do this with only your fingers. Smiley

The next thing I do is lay 3 bottle caps down on the table in a row. I cut my ribbon to about 6 1/2 inches long. Then I get my hot glue gun and put a line of glue down the center of each of the caps. I place the ribbon on top of the glue and then make a loop at the top of my snowman. I put another dot of glue to hold the loop in place. This will give you a way to hang your snowman on the tree.

The next thing I do is put a dot of glue between each of the bottle caps and glue the bottle caps together. This will make your snowman one piece and it wont flop around.

I lay my snowman down and I draw the eyes mouth and buttons on the snowman with black. Then I draw an orange carrot nose. I also get the snowman's scarf and glue it around his neck. I put my scarf off to the side so it does not cover up the cute buttons. Smiley

I cut out a top hat with my black felt. You can make your top hat any color you want but I liked the black the best. Then I put a line of glue on the top hat and glue it to the snowman's head.

The last thing that we do is to glue the arms onto the snowman. I use small twigs that I cut off of a tree in my yard. I laid the snowman down and glued the twig onto the middle bottle cap across the back of the snowman.

We hope you enjoy making these adorable snowmen as much as we did.
Merry Christmas!!

How To Make A Patrick Sock Puppet

My daughter, Ashley, made up this craft. Your kids are going to love it!! It is inexpensive and a creative craft for kids. They are so CUTE too. The kids will love playing with them. My granddaughter sure did. We did too !!!

Here is what you will need:
*Foam Sheets
*Scissors
*Old Socks
*Goggle Eyes
*Markers
*Pipe Cleaners
*Glue (hot glue, stick glue or tacky glue)
Tip: Hot glue works best but stick glue is easy for kids to use. Tacky glue takes a long time to dry but works good.

Here is the link to Patrick's pattern on Photobucket: http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/EasyMeWorld/patternsPatrick.jpg
Here is the photo. Not sure what the difference would be.  Smiley

1. Cut out the pieces to the pattern and then trace and cut the foam pieces.

2. Glue all the foam pieces into place.

3. Glue his google eyes into place too.

4. Draw Patrick's mouth, belly button and eye brows with black marker.

5. Glue Patrick onto a sock and let it dry.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Style a T-Shirt - 4 Styles on: July 27, 2013 04:56:40 AM

No sewing required. They are fun to make and they turned out AWESOME! This is a great way to style an old T-shirt to give it new life. It is really exciting to make your own styles.

STYLE #1
A little girl's dress out of a T-shirt

We laid our T-shirt on the floor and cut out the collar and both sleeves.

Then we cut the seams off of the shoulders.

We put a small "V" at the neckline in the front of the shirt.

Then we tie the two front pieces.

We put the shirt on Daja and made a small cut down the back of the neckline. We make a practice knot at the shoulders to see if the cut is long enough to tie.
Once we see that the cut is long enough, we lay the shirt on the floor and cut a "V" to the bottom of the cut line.

Then we get one of the cut off sleeves and cut a strip off of it. Then we tied the shoulders, put the strip under the back straps and tie the strip together.

STYLE #2 and #3
A vest and scarf.

STYLE #4
A shirt with ties and beads.

Video tutorial found here.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Make A Tie Dye T-shirt With Sharpie Markers on: July 24, 2013 06:22:25 AM
I really enjoyed this video!  You are all cute and look like you really have fun crafting.  Yay for having a grandkid to join you, that's the best fun  Cheesy Cheesy

Thank you so much Midnight Sun. We did have a lot of fun making them.  Grin  My granddaughter had a blast with the whole project. hehe

You need to change the link from a generic one to your blog to one that's the specific entry. i.e. this: http://easymeworld.blogspot.com/2013/07/this-is-such-fun-project-for-kids-and.html

Mods get cranky when it's not to the specific entry and will likely come and change it if you don't.

Cool idea though! Smiley

phoenixfiredesigns I really appreciate the advice. I will change it. I just started my blog last week so I was just learning to get around on that site too. I haven't been posting here for long either so any helpful tips are valuable. Thank you very much.

An Easy Craft For Young Kids - Binoculars

LINK:  http://youtu.be/iM2F4Mz8J8o

This is a very easy craft for small children. We wanted to come up with some easy crafts for my granddaughter to do while she was here to visit. This was a real hit. She had so much fun making her binoculars. It was a great way for her to practice cutting, pasting and coloring.
