1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / how to attach velcro onto knitted items? on: June 29, 2006 12:00:48 PM
I'm assuming this goes here, but feel free to move if I'm wrong.

I'm trying to sew some velcro snaps onto some cell phone and I-pod cozies I've knitted. Is there any good way of doing this? Maybe it's my sewing skills, but so far, it's been very hard to even get the needle through the snaps? Would some sort of fabric glue work better? All the velcro that was attachable that I found at stores said not to put on fabric, so I had to get the non-glued snaps.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / wonder woman blank books on: February 18, 2004 01:47:57 PM
http://www.violeteyes.net/dotmatrix/perpictures/wonderwomanbooks.jpg

i've been spending the past few days making blank books. they're all about 1/8 size or more specifically 3 1/2" x 2 1/2". the front three are prototypes and experiments, the back two are pretty much what the other 43 are going to look like.

i used cardboard or paperboard (experimenting), this wonder woman calendar i bought before my old job at the calendar store was over, floss, construction paper, and copy paper. mostly stuff i already had lying around the house.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / black card/coverstock on: February 14, 2004 07:57:30 AM
i'm looking for black cover or card stock (whichever term you prefer, but the office stores seem to refer to it as coverstock) that i can use as covers for my next zine because i plan on blockprinting on the covers.

staples, officemax, and office depot's websites do not have black cardstock in their online catalogs at least. although i've had friends who have said they've seen it in the stores. it's made me iffy about whether the chain art stores have it either (michael's & ben franklin crafts in my area). people on ebay sell it, but it's usually something like 10 pages per auction, and i need at least 150.

are there any paper stores online that sell it?
4  UNITED STATES / Virginia / Ladyfest Richmond on: February 05, 2004 03:37:51 PM
Is anyone here taking part in this? I've e-mailed them a couple of times, but since I'm not really interested in the show part of it, I'm (and they, I'm sure) don't know what to do. I think they already have a person doing a workshop on zines (my area of expertise).

Here's the website:

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / blockprinting on construction paper on: February 04, 2004 06:30:13 AM
okay, let me say first that i did do a search for this and nothing came up, and that i also have no clue if it should be posted in this forum. it just seemed like it wouldn't fit in in any of the book forums.

i'm going to start work on a new zine soon, and i want to have the covers blockprinted. since i have a ton of construction paper lying around the house, i was wondering if the prints would take on construction paper, since construction paper is kind of grainy.

i would just like to use the construction paper up before i go out and buy some cardstock. i'm not an art student anymore, so it needs to be used somehow.
