I bought this stripy apron from a charity shop for 70p! I designed an anchor pattern based on some buttons i had also got in the charity shop. I cut the anchor out of a linen napkin, sewed it on with blanket stitch and embellished with a baby blue rick rack chain. I perked up the waistband with some navy blue polka dot ribbon and the aforementioned buttons. It was a present for my sister, and she wants to wear it out and about! I hope you like it too!xx

I wasn't sure where to post this, as it's not really a toy but it is definitely a plush character!

The pattern for the dress is from the book Softies: simple instructions for 25 plush pals and is designed by Alicia Paulson whose blog i am absolutely addicted to!

As it is going to be a mother's day gift i wanted to present it nicely so i sewed felt onto a piece of cardboard, sewed on buttons and made a washing line out of some string. Luckily i had just the right pegs for the job!

it's my parents silver wedding anniversary this year and i wanted to make them a gift. i just wondered if anyone had any ideas? i would ideally like to incorporate the silver theme. any ideas gratefully received!

i made these a while ago and was really pleased with they way they turned out. They are very simple, just vanilla sponge with vanilla butter icing. I thought they had a kind of minimalist look in this photo but i guess they aren't very minimalist in terms of the amount of butter thats in them! I iced them using a plastic piping bottle from Marks and Spencers, there was quite alot of waste but it was easy to use.

I named these the royal slippers as they just seemed so extravagant, what with the picot edging AND the pom poms! I made them for overnight trips, eventually they will have their very own pouch. There is something quite nice about wearing such silly slippers in a travelodge!

They are knitted in moss stitch in rowan DK cotton and the crochet edging and pom pom are also rowan - i think it is a 4ply cashmerino.

The only thing i'm not happy with is that my seams are not very good - i need to practice sewing things up. Does anyone have any tips/favourite methods for small projects like this?

last weekend we made some paper using this super ace tutorial:

it's actually a lot easier than it may first appear and i spent NO money on supplies. i made my mesh from tights, a coathanger and gaffa tape... (i'd reccomend taking the hook of the hanger off BEFORE you start as once you've realised it gets in the way and have to saw off all the gaffa tape you wrapped round it with a bread knife...oops!)



and all the paper was in the recycling bag...



the mesh in action...it really works!



the wet paper drying on its 'felts' (newspaper with fabric over the top)...



the lovely grainy finished paper. we added some torn up leaves to the batch of white paper...



can you see how the word 'if' has somehow got trapped in the paper?...



this is such a satisfying project! the paper would look really nice in a handbound journal. hope you enjoyed!

does anyone know where to get finger ring blanks either online/mail order or in birmingham? so far i've only found them at an amazing craft shop in leeds and on ebay. i'm desperate for more as i'm totally addicted to making button rings and i've used up all my blanks!
