311  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: pweety skwirt... cute skirt i made on: April 27, 2005 07:48:50 PM
I would be totally down for a tutorial on this skirt! It is so cute! The fabric is really soft and sheer... like a muslin. P.S. I agree with the girl that said there's nothin wrong with a little junk in the trunk (ask virtually any guy- flat butts are for 12 year old boys!)

Thanks! But of course, it wouldn't have worked if I didn't have a cute baby INSIDE the costume (ha ha)... I wish he had had more hair- the little swirlie on his head was me trying to give him a pompadour.

My boyfriend (and "baby daddy") is obsessed with Elvis... Our whole kitchen is covered in Elvis stuff, he has been to Graceland 2 times, and he even has an Elvis tattoo on his arm! So when we were blessed with our son Felix we decided his first Halloween costume should be The King!!
I took a white sleeper that was too small and sewed gold fringe across the bottom of the arms and back. Then I cut a pattern to make a fake belt and belt buckle out of gold-colored felt. I added huge jewels that I got from Michael's craft store with a glue gun. Then, I cut out two stars to glue on the chest, and cut off the feet of the sleeper and split the outer seam of the legs. I folded them in and made a little bell-bottom insert out of the remaining gold felt. The result is super duper cute, and even though he will never remember it, Felix was one hunka hunka sexy baby for his first Halloween!
Depending on the responses I get on this I can mock up a tutorial... if you have any requests, let me know! Also I would love to see any cool Elvis stuff you or someone you know has made!
