1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: NES-style Super Mario Bros blanket! (pictures) on: April 14, 2012 11:59:31 AM
Wow! This is impressive. I started a scene from Super Mario Brothers 2 in crochet (about 4 years ago Embarrassed) and still haven't finished it, so I know how much work this is. Any suggestions for keeping the yarns from tangling as you go?

Yes, I do have advice Smiley You can buy those yarn spool things (you'd need a million) or you can just DIY it like me. I took cardboard and cut it into H shapes with notches on the ends to secure the yarn. Just wrap your yarn around it and cut it. You may have to replace them along the way, but they're free and totally worth it.

Oh my god! This is so super awesome! It's creative and it turned out great. Your tension is so neat, too. Tension is somewhere I struggle a bit...

This is totally awesome! Your tensions on the characters is GREAT. When I made my Mario blanket, I had trouble with the tension and I still have a lot of pulling on the back to do. Vintage video game crafts are awesome Smiley

Thank you Cheesy I have to say, your stuff is pretty amazing! I'm fascinated by old school video game knitting/crocheting.

Thanks everyone Smiley

Ha, I was hoping no one would notice that it's mirror image! It was a total accident. I was already too far in to go back and fix it!
I think it's still cool, though.

Thanks everybody Smiley

Yes, I did come up with the pattern myself. I designed the scene on Adobe Photoshop.

I knitted an awesome Super Mario blanket that I designed on photoshop for my brother. I started in November 2010 and just finished it today. I probably spent 40 hours of man-work on it.

I'm so excited to share it
