does that come with a magic wand that will keep my tatas from covering the whole pretty front?  perhaps i should try this with some clear vinyl 'cups' for my girls. give the illusion of perkyness... or like two little children doing blowfish on a window  Roll Eyes

i told my husband today "and here i swore that i'd never be a girl who'd get a heart tattooed on me."  his buddy kept telling me how punk it was LOL.  as a 31 year old wife to a youth pastor, i didn't think i could still be all that punk.  Grin

yay.... we went to the annual tattoo convention yesterday.  its sorta like going to the humane society.  you get there and think "but i'll be so sad if i don't go home with one today."  or maybe the fact that i had the photos of what i wanted in my purse wasn't quite the coincidence i played it off to be.  i found a lovely chap from england to do up my arm.  i'd always been a black and grey purist.  but for this, i knew it had to be in color.  so here's what it is based off of.  when i was 5, my mom needed to keep me busy while she sewed.  so she handed me some muslin and thread and started me down a long road of sewing. she keeps it framed in her bathroom haha.  i like that i can say i have my first project still.

and here's what i got last night.

the artist laughed at me when i said "i dunno... do you think the needle in the skin might scare children?"  all around me were his drawings of people with their skin oozing off their bodies and demon stuff.  i guess a lil sewing needle ain't scary by his standards.  i'd wanted to do something to symbolize what the gift of stitching means to me and my future.  but i couldn't imagine getting a sewing machine.  i've seen some amazing sewing machine tats!  but while i cherish my beloved old pfaff 1222 and husquavarnas... they ain't what i'd call pretty(shh don't tell them i said that) but i'd feel like i was cheating on them if i put a pic of the featherweight on my arm. Wink   but now i can't stop doodling ideas for other embroideries to build around that heart.  me thinks an embroidered sleave would kick futtin butt!
28  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Insanely quick corset? on: January 10, 2007 08:14:35 PM
joannes sells cotton covered boning by the yard.  its in the velcro sorta sections in flat boxes.  usually on a bottom shelf that i've seen.  it's cheap and the cotton casing its in makes it super easy to sew in.  there's corset patterns in the costumes or in the last pages of the formal/bridal they'll have a bridal underwear section you could maybe work with.

i was telling my mom about that shop.  she laughed and mentioned a good point.  if many of those bolts have been there for over 20 years at least, there's gotta be some bad light damage along the crease lines on the tops of the bolts.  though a lot of her silk and nicer stuff are on rolls.  if i get all my sewing done tonight(yeah right) maybe i'll reward byself with a little shopping trip there tomorrow.  every time i go in, i notice a section i failed to see before.  like the little wall of gingham.

i talked to the lady who works the store.... she said the owner might be talked into making a donation to lil ol me after the doors close for good.  Shocked holy crabapple!!!  if it happens... you know i'll hook a stevens point girl up.  Wink have fun playing nurse.... surely you've got some sexy vintage looking nurse dress to wear for the occasion.
