12  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Rug Punching on: April 19, 2007 03:51:34 PM
Anyone here ever try it?  I tried a search for it but didn't see anything much.  I inherited most of my Grandma's bizarre crafting tools from a lifetime of crafting.  She's got some stuff I can't even identify.  The collection of rug punching needles had me scratching my head.  I'd hooked before(the police told me to get off the corner  Wink ) but never seen anyone rug punched.  Thank God I just started a crafting night at church.... I mentioned the punchers and one of the other gals talked me through it.  I'll take a picture when I'm finished.  But its insanely addictive.  And a wicked awesome way for me to use up my yarn stash and random burlap coffee sacks.  I was curious if there were some secret punchers lurking around.

Holy cow! I haven't thought about yarn kitties since I was a munchkin!  The sweet old lady across the street used to make them for me.  Grin ahhhhh thanks for bringing back that memory!

irish chicky.... mine were to my lower back for our wedding.  I wish I had a clearer picture of them before we pinned my veil over it.  Essentialy the gal did a big chunky wild looking french braid kinda fold down the back of my head.  But to keep em in place, since they had so much weight, she had to use a million bobby pins and then sewed it solid with a tapestry needle.  Then we pulled the loose hairs framing my face and gave em nice lil curl.

I like it a lot!  And I don't see trashiness at all.  The length looks good to me as well.  If you got nice legs and knees like that, I say show it off.

When the dreadies are short, yer right, big ol beads are a pain to try to sleep on.  or when you are rockin out, they tend to fling around and knock ya in the face.  I cracked my nose a few times.  Roll Eyes Peyote stitches work well for early decorating since they smoosh flat when ya lay on em.
